I'm not sure yet for my outdoor...I'll have to see how I do with these goals first.

Re: Goals for Track Season
OK I,ll be the first to bite on this one,
800m - 2:05
1500m - 4:20
Mile - 4:40
If I can get rid of this stupid cold I should be able to do this by the end of March so long as I do not get any more setbacks. Also may do a 3000m any thing under 9:20 would be acceptable to me.

Re: Goals for Track Season
1) coach my g.f. Sarah to the following: sub-60 400, sub-2:10 800, sub-4:30 1500, sub-10:00 3000. Coach our friend Julie (beginning runner) to a successful first 1/2 marathon in May.

2) top-10 overall ranking in my age group (U.S. M45-49) in the 800 (ca. 2:06-7) and 1500 (ca. 4:25-7). I may have to do these indoors in Feb, the way my schedule looking.

3) Possibly do a good 1/2 marathon or trail ultra in the fall.

4) do a lot more rock climbing this spring and summer! (this should actually be tied w/#1, which is O.K. since Sarah will climb w/ me

Re: Goals for Track Season
My primary goals closely resemble Hangnin's in trying to get a top ten ranking for 800 and 1500 (for U.S. M40-44)

Secondary :
> 54 or better 400m
> 25 or better 200m
> 18 ft. LJ*
> 110' discus*
> 150' javelin*
> break 17:00 for 5K

* - Pentathlon events that I competed in last summer.

HA!! this is funny... after posting this I wanted to double check my long jump from last summer (always forget cause they measure in meters) and I found out I'm already ranked 4th in the Pentathlon... whooohooo!

Wile E;
How is the foot doing? Hope it is healed up- I'd hate to lose you to the "CoolThrower" forums . I'm having to do a lot of speed work in the cold this winter, but the body is holding up amazingly well (knock on wood).

Hangnin' - Hey, there's a "CoolThrowers" Forum? I'm there

No worries on that... I enjoyed doing the Pentathlon, but at least for the next few years, would like to keep it as a fun /different thing to do on occasion. My focus is still on the middle distances.

I'm likely stuck with the retrocalcaneal condition, but feel that I can work on keeping it (bursitis) in check. Although my track times weren't so good last summer, I think it was more my conditioning level then my heel and I may have gone into the season over-tentative.

Other than that, I have had no problems with it on my regular runs over the fall and winter so far....

I have yet to start speedwork as I want to get a few 30+ mile weeks under my belt first (last week was week 1).
