I believe Delgado would have been signed even if Youkilis had not been hurt as potential leverage on Ortiz in the postseason. I never felt Delgado would be game ready in time this season even if he stayed healthy.
However, Delgado has already injured his other hip and is on the DL while Ortiz has proved he should be back next year. The interesting thing will be how the Sox negotiate Ortiz extension. Will it be an additional year or two additional years. The extra years will be for a lot less money. Will Ortiz accept? He does like playing in Boston.
In retrospect I'm thinking you are right TG.
Of course my "axe to grind" is all about signing-on aging "over the hill" players who prove to be of no help, their best years behind them....particularly pitchers.
John Smoltz and Eric Gagne to name a couple.
WE ARE ONLY 10 GAMES OUT, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??? I AM STILL ON THE BANDWAGON TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS!!!!
AAA. THEY WON LAAST NIGHT AND NOW THERE ARE 40 HEALTHY PLAYERS IN THE DOUGH OUT SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? EACH NIGHT WE WILL GET CLOSER TO THE FRONT. I WILL NOT ABAMDONE THE LEAKY SHIP. THE MINOR LEAGUE SEASON IS OVER SO THE VETERANS WANT TO KEEP THEIR JOBS, SO I SEE A NEW APROACH AT THE PLATE. DO THE JOB OR THE OTHER YOUNG PLAYERS WILL REPLACE U. PART 2. RANDY MOSS IS GETTING MILLIONS FROM THE PATRIOTS AND SAID HE DOES NOT FEAL WANTED, AMERICA WHAT A COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adding insult to injury, Oakland almost swept Boston this weekend with it's last in League hitting, and AAA roster. RIP Henry.
