This was my first 1/2 marathon and I fell in love. It was great! The people, the course, the spectators, and having bands throughout was great as well. I plan on doing it every year from now on out.
Agreed - course is great and lots of positive vibrations the whole way. My second 1/2 marathon, and I'm hooked from here on out. Only complaint is that the price keeps rising - higher than I think is reasonable.
I completely agree about the race and the price. In 2008 I paid $55 to register. This is one of the best races and the weather is usually fantastic.
This is my first Rock 'N' Roll event and my 4th 1/2 marathon. I heard these are great events. It is expensive, but I found a $10 coupon code doing a google search.
Weather was good, and race was well organized. I was a bit disappointed by the "bands" They were far and few between. The cheerleaders from various Philly and suburb schools were better then the music. It was my first rock and roll so maybe I had too high of expectations. I was also bummed that there were no Philly pretzels at the end. They are a staple for most races I have done in the city. Oh well that is so minor anyway! Thanks to all the volunteers who made the race great.
This was my sixth Half Marathon (we do different towns each time). The Philly version with the Rock and Roll / IMG turned out perfectly. The people of Philadelphia really should be proud of themselves- really great, enthusiastic, kind and well organized City. Weather was flawless.
I am 'local', so I was able to attend the expo on Friday. My timing was perfect- not too crowded. All vendors were attentive and talkative. Sunday was a gorgeous morning for a run- although a little warm at the end as I forgot my hat! As for the course itself.... I didn't care for the crowd of runners in the first 4 miles- maybe people are not honest when they give a time for their corral assignment?? That said, the spectators in this same section were great! Running the back 9 was excellent, and much easier to find a constant steady pace. The crowd on the Falls Bridge seemed to be just what a bunch of us needed as speeds definitely picked up from there!
I enjoyed the bands that were present- even though I only got a snippet as I passed by.
Great group of volunteers at the water/cytomax stations- with many offering words of encouragement.
Overall a wonderful day. I would sign up again next year.
I like it very much and I have learned much from it
