I ran my first 10K today (Veterans Day 10K) and I did better than I thought I would. My goal was 1.5 hrs since I didnt really feel like I was ready, but I ran it in 75 min. I'm so excited and can't wait to do the Jingle bell all the way. Any ideas on how I can improve my time?
congrats, I can see why you are so excited. I have just started the C25K program and hope to do a 5K in the spring.

Thanks. Good luck in the spring.

Congratulations! It's funny because I also did my first 10K on Nov 14th and my goal was 90 minutes and my finish was 1:14:56. It was also a trail run which was a first for me as well. It was exhilarating. I can't tell you how to be faster (I'm still trying to figure that out myself) - just wanted to say congrats and way to go! ![]()
Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!
It's so funny how you can train at a certain pace, and predict your finish time based on that, then you get out there and surprise yourself! Way to go!

Congrats on your first 10K. I did my first 10K a few weeks ago also, at the DH Dash in Hermitage. I finished in 41:20. I was thrilled with that time. My goal was 45min. I also coach, and would be happy to share some workouts with you. email me at dr.jenkins04@gmail.com and I can send you some stuff.
I did my first 10K that day as well, Possibly the same race as you, The Veteran's Day 10K in DC? I was shooting for a 90 minute finish but fell short by finishing in 92:45. 5th from last I think. Oh well! I finished and that is just as good for me right now as winning it would be. lol
Congratulations on a great first 10K!
That's awesome! I walked the San Antonio Half Marathon with my wife and mom this past weekend. I was inspired to get back into running shape being out there. I just downloaded my 10K training plan! I have the Jingle Bell run circled on my calendar. Eventually I hope to work my way up to a half marathon so I can run with my sister during next year's SA RnR Half marathon!
Very cool! I'm still a newbie and want to complete a 10k in 2011. You're inspirational! I'm running through this cold weather and hope to get on the other (under)side of 30minutes in a 5k and eventually an hour in the 10k.
I am the tortoise...slow and steady build up will win this personal race.
Way to go!
