Improving PR's what are your times?

Hey im 15 and a freshman in high school
I ran track last year and this year and I was wondering if you can give me advice on what kind of workouts I should do to cut down my mile 800, and 400 times. I only have two more meets left in the season, (class a sectionals and ny state qualifiers)

400 - 57
800 2 12
1600 4 58

What do you think is a reachable goal for me and are theese times appropriate for my age level.

I think you are posting your PRs a few too many times. I've seen them show up in 4 consecutive threads now.

I'm glad you are proud of your times though.

I'm guessing since you are talking about going to state with those times, that you are a girl. Congrats, those are some excellent marks.

I would say that you coach would have some pretty good ideas as to what to do since he/she has brought you this far already

haha yeah...those times would be crazy good for a girl. But I think this person is a guy. They have easier qualifications for the state meet than In Cali. I think anyone can try to go, or something, I'm not really sure.

state qualifiers--not states. its basically like a county meet, not too much tougher to get into than one. the main purpose, though, is to determine who goes to states--the top finisher in each event automatically goes, and the 2nd finisher, if they get under a certain time:

Boys State Meet Qualifying Standards
Long Jump....22'0"
Triple Jump..44'6"
Pole Vault...13'6"
Shot Put.....51'0"
Discus......145'0"
High Jump.....6'5"
Pentathlon...3100pts (IAAF Tables)
100M.........10.7
200M.........22.3
400M.........50.2
800M.......1:57.0
1600M......4:24.0
3200M......9:35.0
110M HH......14.8
400M IH......56.0
3000 Steeple...9:50.0
4x100 Relay.....42.8
4x400 Relay...3:23.0
4x800 Relay...8:03.0

and this person is a guy cuz in new york girls run the 1500, not the 1600.

back to the question: im assuming your county/state qualifier meets are pretty soon? this late in the season, doing hard distance and long intervals probably wont help you much. id stick with short&fast intervals and easy runs. mentally prepare yourself--tell yourself you ARE going to get a pr!
