    Ruby,

    Since I believe you WILL live to run another day and another race, I thought I'd mention a 5k race in DC I've run before but on by the National Brain Tumor Society (www.braintumorcommunity.org).  Next year's DC race is on May 1, starting/ending at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvannia Ave.

    For others who can't make it to DC that day to race with you, there are other races nationwide by the Nat Brain Tumor Society.  Here is the schedule for 2011:

    • WILMINGTON, DE 'Get Your Head in the Game' Brain Tumor Awareness Walk   April 30
    • SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Brain Tumor Walk   May 7
    • WASHINGTON, DC Race for Hope   May 1
    • BOSTON Brain Tumor Ride (formerly Ride for Research)   May 15
    • SARATOGA, NY Team Billy Ride and Walk for Research   May 15
    • DENVER Brain Tumor Walk   June 4
    • NEW YORK, NY Brain Tumor Walk   June 18
    • PORTLAND, OR Brain Tumor Walk   August 27
    • SAN DIEGO Brain Tumor Walk   September 10
    • SILICON VALLEY Brain Tumor Ride   September 17
    • BOSTON Brain Tumor Walk   October 1
    • SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Brain Tumor Walk   October 15
    • PHOENIX Brain Tumor Walk   October 22
    • DALLAS-FT WORTH Brain Tumor Walk   November 5
    • PHILADELPHIA Race for Hope   November 6

    I run that race because a good friend's wife had a brain tumor several years back. The tumor was successfully removed and she is living a full and happy life. We're praying for the same full and happy life outcome for you.

    I am looking forward to racing with you next May.

    Andrew

    Dear Ruby,

    I don't know you as I've just joined this website today!  But I tumbled on your request for prayers, so I am praying for you that your tumor is benign and you get well soon.  I'm also sending some positive vibes toward you!

    Take care of yourself!

    Ruby,

    Wow.  Like others - so stunned to hear that.  I will keep you in my prayers.  Someone else said it & I second it- Our God is an AWESOME God.

    Although I haven't met any of you, this board is definitely like a family.  Thank you for sharing this - I think that took tremendous courage.  Below is one of my most favorite poems.  I hope it brings you comfort and strength.  ~cmj

    One Day          at a Time

    One day at a time, with          its failures and fears,
    With its hurts and mistakes, with its weakness and tears,
    With its portion of pain and its burden of care;
    One day at a time we must meet and must bear.

    One day at a time          to be patient and strong,
    To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong;
    Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease;
    It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.

    One day at a time          - but the day is so long,
    And the heart is not brave, and the soul is not strong,
    O Thou pitiful Christ, be Thou near all the way;
    Give courage and patience and strength for the day.

    Swift cometh His          answer, so clear and so sweet;
    "Yea, I will be with thee, thy troubles to meet;
    I will not forget thee, nor fail thee, nor grieve;
    I will not forsake thee; I never will leave."

    Not yesterday's          load we are called on to bear,
    Nor the morrow's uncertain and shadowy care;
    Why should we look forward or back with dismay?
    Our needs, as our mercies, are but for the day.

    One day at a time,          and the day is His day;
    He hath numbered its hours, though they haste or delay.
    His grace is sufficient; we walk not alone;
    As the day, so the strength that He giveth His own.

    Annie Johnson Flint

    Deut. 33:25 ...and          as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

    2Cor. 12:9 And          he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made          perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities,          that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

    Re: Dear friends... need your prayers...

    Ruby,

    Know that you have been in my thoughts for a few days now and I have not had the means to log on here and let you know.  If ever there is anything you need please ask and I will do it.  I will lead you thruogh a race so the vision is not an issue... I will do anything in my power to assist with this.

    Dear Jesus,

    Please be with Ruby in her time of need give her everything she needs and most things she wants.  Be with her husband and provide him the heart and patience and courage to face Ruby and the situation at the darkest of her current situation.  Be with the kiddo and let them know that their mother will be able to handle this and let them  learn just what an example they have in front of them through the process.  YThere is so many sp[ecifics I could ask for but not knowing Ruby and her family's desires I will leave it with simply asking that you provide them with everything they need, to include the understanding that they are taken care of, and most things they desire.

    Jimmy

    Jimmy, I am so touched by your offer of running a marathon with me as my guide. You are such a good man! In this time and age, everyone is all about me, me, me, but you have shown yourself to be focused on others. I am fortunate to know you.

    Ruby I am doing this for me.  I would get to be seen with a gorgeous woman the entire course.  Actually it is the least I could do and I would do it with or without your vision issues.

    I am so happy to hear of your calming feelings in this venture.  Be still and know that He is God.  My utmost favorite scripture is from Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understandings; in all of your ways acknowledge him and he will set your paths straight.  This passage has helped to ease my anxiety and stress levels many times over.  I can not imagine what this all must feel lilke and how overwhelming it all is.  I am moved by the responses I have read from you and how you are managing.  Here is a song I listen to from time to time.  many on here do not know it but I often times sit and listen to music to calm my heart and mind and this one is very relaxing.  I can put it on continual play and just sit and listen to it over and over and over.

    Ruby, I'm so glad to read your update.  You are in my thoughts and prayers and I'm sure in everyone else's as well.  I'm glad to see you're calm, and yes, someone up there is looking after you and yes, you can ask for a miracle.  And when this is all over, we will come for coffee and cookies (and we will bring the cookies.)  Take care of yourself.

    Ruby-

    I can't believe what you are going through right now. I do think the silver-lining in a situation like this is that you find out how many people love you and want to take care of you. We will keep praying for strength and recovery for you and your family. XO, Jen
