1st track meet

Hey,

It's my 1st track meet tomorrow and I am scared! I'm running 3 events--all pretty much distance events. Any tips? What were your guys' 1st track meets like?

Re: 1st track meet
3 distance events in one day? This is a lot to do so early in the season. Usually early season meets our coach will only let us run one event, maybe two. You don't want to burn out.
Anyhow my first meet ever was the Queens Alumni Meet in Kingston in 2002. I ran the 2000m steeplechase and got spiked really bad in the first water pit when someone running to close behind me landed on the back of my leg. Slicing through be like butter. The water was just barely above freeezing (there was a thin layer of ice on the top) so I didn't really feel it much. When the race the blood was everywhere. The scars it left looked like I was the victim of a tiger attack. That was over 3 years ago and the scars are still there.

Re: 1st track meet
Eat a lot of rice and carbs the night before, and drink a lot of water. The next morning make sure you use the restroom so you don't feel like it during your meet.

Eat a granola bar or bannana maybe 1-2 hours before you run.

Good luck, also, go at a pace you can keep at, don't burn out at the beggining!

Re: 1st track meet
Congrads! My first meet was terrifying... : p When you get on the line, though, don't be scared. The most likely thig is that everybody elese scared, too. I had to pee, like, every 15 seconds my first meet! They're a great way to meet friends from other schools... Good Luck!
P.S.
Our team always says a prayer before the meets, and if we don't, then something goes wrong. I'd advise God-time.
