The courage, dedication and determination -- pure grit -- of this young runner and her coach makes me cringe when I think of the times in running -- and in life -- that I didn't give the effort that young Holland gave for her coach and teammates.

Reminds me of when Julie Moss collapsed and crawled to the finish line, to take second place in the 1982 Hawaii Ironman triathalon. Mind over matter, so to speak. In both cases, what amazing determination.
