Quadricep Injury

i'm 16-a junior in high school...second year running track. anyways, i guess i pulled my quad after my first meet (where i P.R.ed in the 800). i iced it and stretched it a bit in the next three days before my meet yesterday. i went out and p.r. ed once again in the 4x8 but my quad was absolutely killing me afterwards and i had to scratch from the open 8. the faster i run, the more it hurts so basically i can't sprint. i was wondering if some people had any experience with this injury and what they did for a speedy recovery. i don't wanna stop running since i've p.r.ed back-to-back. also i was wondering if i should run on my meet on tuesday...

thanks.

i would recommend not doing speed workouts and instead doing distance runs and only do one event at meets

The same thing happened to me on a lesser extent. Aaccording to the training section of cool running, a quad pull is usually a result of a muscle imballance in the legs. basiclly your hamstrings are stronger than your quads and your quads eventually gave way to them. do some leg raises in the future to prevent this later on.
