100 Day Challenge

John, The Penguin, Bingham posted on his facebook a few days back about a hundred day challenge....doing 30 minutes of planned exercise daily for 100 days. He now has over 4000 ppl who have accepted that challenge. I'm one! Are you?
Read about it here; http://www.teampenguin.com/100days.php
As I was reviewing 2010, I noted a lack of consistancy in my exercise program. Some missed workouts were due to injury, some due to lack of planning otherwise known as poor excuses, some due to pure laziness. I intend to correct all of that in 2011.
I have a BIL who has a running streak of over 3333 days. He says that is nothing compared to some. I read of one guy who has run everyday for over 40 YEARS!! Surely, I can do some sort of sustained movement for 100 days. Can you? Are you with me? Are you with John?
I ran/walked 3+ miles todays in the pouring rain.
If you are in the challenge, let us know. If not, now is the time to start. It is day 1 of month 1 of year 11.
Waddle on!

Me, too! Did a speedy (LOL) 1.7 miles in 31 minutes as my first outing after a two month hiatus. Time to get a waddle-on...
"You can't plow a field by turning it over in your mind." ...and you can't train for a race by thinking about it - you have to put in the miles.
I ran the last 3 days, I walked today for 45 minutes.
Yikes! I have some catching up to do! Nice job!

Count me in! Running, elliptical or downhill skiing with be my activities for winter!
'm in too! I'm new here and I am training for the Indianapolis Mini Marathon in May. I haven't been doing anything! Today I ran/walked 1.5 miles in 28 minutes. Good start!
If anyone has any suggestions, help, resources that I could follow for training for the Mini I would appreciate hearing from you!
Don't you just hate it when you have a long post and then it disappears. Oh well, I'll keep this one shorter.
Welcome Maria, Donna, Susan, mbeutler, and MaryRae. Congratulations on this commitment to yourself. I know that at the end of this 100 days, we will all be healthier, happier and wiser.
30 minutes how ever we want or need to break it up really isn't too much to ask. If need be, dance while your are fixing dinneror do core work or jumping jacks during tv commercials,
My plan is to RUN on Mon, Wed & Sat. Strength and Yoga on Tues and Thurs, Walk or stationary Bike on Fri and Sun. I have DVD's and dumb bells so I can work out at home.
What are your plans?
Susan, thanks for the suggestion about printing the 100 day chart and using various colored stickers or stars to mark off success. That visual will be valuable incentive to not skip a day.
I rode my stationary bike 60 minutes this morning prior to getting ready for church. DAY 2 DONE! (actually I started 12-26 so it is day 8 done, but I'm not counting that.
MaryRae, there are several good plans for beginner mini marathons. Jeff Galloway advocates a run/walk interval method. John Bingham maintains there is no need for speed.
I've learned the hard way that consistancy is the key to success and avoiding overtraining is crucial. Hence, I am gradually building my running time back.
Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Marie,
I have been following John's Facebook and will be getting my wife to join in as soon as the doctor releases her to start exercising.
Foot surgery on both feet has put her on the couch.
This is a great motivator for the hardest time of the year.
