Hello Everyone!
Looks like our group is getting bigger and bigger! I'm excited we have so many along for the "Run" So to speak. For those who need some help, you can go to www.coolrunning.com and click on "training" and the "Couch to 5k" The whole thing is there. There are also various podcasts available for free that people like to use. I found the music a bit distracting so I wasn't really a fan. I downloaded an app on my iPod touch for 1.99 that works great, lets you use you own music and prompts you when to walk and run. Just takes the guess work out.
The idea of the Couch to 5K is that it starts you slowly, and gives you a chance to recover between runs. Thus avoiding injury. There are times when you may feel that you can go further and do more, but it encourages you to do just what the program recommends so you don't overdo it and then burn out.
I did not run 1/1, I have a head/chest cold that I'm getting over and still recovering from our overnight with the kids. So I'm hoping to be recovered enough (pretty sure I will be) to start on Monday. Great job to everyone out there who has already started and Latinacowgirl, you make me feel like a slacker! Thanks to Nyla for the birthday wishes. Had a lovely dinner with my husband, back on the Weight Watchers band wagon tomorrow, yes I'm doing that too!
I'm signed up for the Sprint distance Triathlon (1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike ride and 5k run) in July. Besides that I'd like to do some other 5k's and maybe eventually some 10k's. The St. Paddy's Day Dash in Seattle would be great. It's March 13th I think I'll be confident enough to try it. I'd also like to do an Olympic Distance Triathlon. I really love Triathlons but running is my worst sport, so I'm trying to get a handle on that.
Anyway, just checking in. Happy New Year to everyone! And if anyone else wants to join.. It's not too late.
