IMPROVING

WELL  AFTER RUNNING IN SOME 5K'S I MARKED OUT A 10K WHERE I LIVE AND THIS MORNING I DID IT.  I CANT BELIEVE IT.

MY TIME WAS 1:9.35   IT WORKED OUT TO A 11.13  PACE.  i HAD LOTS OF STRENGTH LEFT.  JUST WANTED TO FINISH.

I JUST AM IN AWWWW   LOL.   NOW THERE WAS ONE THING THAT AROSE THAT I AM NOT SURE IF ITS NORMAL.  I WOULD SAY

IN THE LAST MILE OR SO MY FINGER TIPE WERE GETTING TINGLY..  NOTHING SERIUS, BUT WAS KINDA WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE GOT THIS SENSATION

AS SOON AS I WAS DONE  THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANYOF THIS  SO  I DONT THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL.

ANYWAYS.. I JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS..   LIKE I SAID  I AM STILL IN AWWWW  OVER IT....

Congratulations on your race!  I was born and raised in Winter Haven. My sister works at Winter Haven Hospital and my dad retired from the Post Office in Auburndale. I would love to drive there and do a race!

Congratulations on your 10K.   That is indeed awesome!!!!    I have periodic numbing of some of my fingertips, sometimes when they get cold while I'm running and sometimes when I"m in the house at the desk..... so I've had that phenomenon and I don't think it has a thing to do with the running and cannot be much help as to what causes it.  I think it is called neuropathy.   But, it would be worth running by your doctor - that is what I plan to do at my next appointment.

Again, congratulations on your 10K and on your fabulous progress (and weight loss!) in 2010 and continuing.  Keep up the great work and hold on to that sense of awe!   I find that, as I lost the weight and was able to do more and more, I too have frequently been in awe over being able to do these things!

Hooray for you and you should be very proud!

Congrats on the 10k! You're truly inspiring to me at this moment! I just finished a 5 mile trail run this past weekend and I'm hoping I can try a 10k next month. I hope you continue to progress and wish you the best!

    Re: IMPROVING

Check your breathing.  Sometimes if a person hyperventilates it can cause numbing/tingling in extremities.  A good, easy way to make sure you're breathing right is to count breaths on your steps.  I would suggest breathing in sets of 3: 3 in and 3 out.  Avoid even numbers because it can cause cramps and soreness because you always start inhaling and exhaling on the same foot.  Crazy, but true.
