Pain in knees and legs

I recently started a Couch to 10K program. I've been training Mon, Wed, and Fri since the beginning of the year.
Monday I did 62 minutes; 2 minutes at an 8 minute pace, and then 3 minutes walking at about a 14 minute pace, etc.
I had to take Wednesday off. I gave blood and thought it was wise to skip the day. Now Friday is here and I've never been more sore. All the joints and muscles in my legs ache and I find it a bit painful to walk.
It is the time off that's causing the pain? Should I just run through it, or give myself some more rest?
I was also told, when I gave blood, that my iron was fairly low. Still in the normal range, but at the very bottom of the range.
Thanks for your help.

I do know low iron levels could cause soreness in the joints, Question today when you started back on your program did you do anything different; maybe speed, shoes, differents surfaces.

I actually didn't do anything today. I plan to resume tomorrow, Saturday.
I just found the situation odd becasue I was ran Monday, felt fine Tuesday and gave blood, skipped Wednesday, and was super sore Thursday and today.
I'm going to resume things tomorrow, no matter what. Hopefully that will help.

Hats off to you for your blood donation!
Your pain may be secondary to dehydration, tight muscles and low magnesium.
Try soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath 20 min (with stretching) each night for 2-3 nights. Lots of water.
Let us know if this helps.
Happy running! ![]()
Thanks for your responses. I had not thought of Magnesium levels.
I resumed things yesterday (Saturday). I was very sore and winded. I slowed down to 9 minute miles. It was a bit rough, but I managed to get an hour in.
I'm going to chalk this up to a combination of the low iron and the blood donation. I'll stretch more, watch my iron intake, and go forward. Tomorrow will be better.
