Monday Runs

Starting back up after taking a week off from getting my wisdom teeth yanked.  2.7 miles this morning in the dark.  About 20 degrees out.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.  (from my ice tea lid)

I ran 5 miles at lunch, including hill repeats.  My legs were feeling tired so I stopped at 6 hills.  On the way back I figured I had run 4 days in a row, which I hadn't done since early December.  That plus "running" in the snow over the weekend probably is why my legs are a little tired.

When you run in 20 degrees what kind of attire do you usually wear? I'm a new runner.

My wisdom tooth runs came in warm weather; how did the cold affect the sockets?  Snow running is really good leg work, usually with less impact.  Well done, Len!  I got a 5 miler on pavement tonight, the fastest since the marathon, a lot less snow to hurdle now.  Tomorrow should be easy run day.

usually a thin balaclava (off the face) or knit hat, lined pants, a shirt, gloves or mittens, and some sort of windjacket.....Well, one neighbor likes shorts, no shirt, no hat, shoes without socks,  light gloves, his heart rate monitor and his music..........Another looks like someone out of Dr Zhivago or maybe an Everest expedition.

No run here, this AM. I'm recovering from yesterday's long run. Even skipped the leg movements in my strength work out.

We ran downtown Wilmington last night, a strenth workout.  1 mile warm-up, then 6 X 800 hill repeats that ended by a parking garage, then 2 x 8 flights of stairs walking 1st 4 every other step, then running the last 4 every step, then another 6 X 800 hill repeats we ended with 4 backwards hill repeats of about 100 yrds.  Legs/Hips stills tight from skiing and sore this morning from last night.  Pace was conversational around 8:30.

Immer has described what I wear as well, down to around 30 degrees. Though I sometimes wear an "ear warmer" around my head, under the hat, particularly when it is colder (20s or below).  The balaclava comes out on cold, windy days, as well as an extra layer on the upper body (another shirt or a lined jacket, or both!)  My fingers are somewhat sensitive to the cold so I'll wear mittens if it's below freezing.
