I doubt the Red Sox and Yankees would give up the revenue generated in a Sox-Yankees series to play the games overseas. It would also upset the community with lost restaurant revenue. A few years ago the Sox started the season in Japan. The Sox players complained of fatigue for a month following the series. The next time an overseas opening series was mentioned Sox management stated they probably wouldn't be interested. When the Sox played in Japan the A's were the host team. The attendance and peripheral revenue was far more than it would have been in Oakland. I got the impression from the article this is some political party's dream not a business plan.
