Hey, Karen-I don't use custom orthodics. Just the ones the pod sold me. They are okay in my New Balance 1222.

Yeah! I'm glad that you are back running. : )

I'm still hobbling because of the ITBS so I've not run long enough to worry about the potty issues and I'm staying in the flats so I'm never more than 2 houses away from home. Boring, but very convenient.

g'morn

Glad to read that you guys are doing well with your running.

I had one of the most humiliating horrific episodes EVER last week and it was during a 5 miler!?!?!?!?!
I'll spare the details since it would be TMI; but let's just say that it has driven me back inside on the TM.

<carry on>

I'm so sorry WTPJ. That feeling is just horrible. Hope that you are doing better now.

My dumb ITB is letting me go 3 miles (still in the flats) so that is a big improvement, but going to make my half in January a big run/walk. ick.

Sending my thoughts your way WTPJ. .

Has anyone else tried Dannon's Immunity yogurt drinks?

Vanilla and strawberry so far. Less than on week trying them and my running is still recovering from Hartford on 10/14

I've not tried the yogurt drinks or Activa yogurts, etc...hope they work for everyone!
If so, then please let us know, because I need to try anything and everything.

Nothing new to report here...just carrying on in my usual WTPJ way. <snort>

have a happy healthy holiday season

Re: colon issues (sorry)
My running is so irregular...as is my diet, I'll just do the immunity yogurt drink as some sort of regular thing, and keep you posted.

Job interview the week at after T-day...Lots of traveling. Will be good for our bank account and probably detrimental to running and eating!

Lets hear it for a Garmin for Xmas!

Re: colon issues (sorry)
yogini,
Good luck on the interview. Mind if I ask what type of work?

My running & other workouts will be nice and consistent this week, as we don't travel for T-day. All family members live within 8 miles of each other! small family

cheers

I have a BS in Bio, a certificate in Cytotechnology, and a recently earned MA in Adult Ed.

Most recently I was the Ed. Coordinator at the RI school of Cytotechnology and a Cytotech at on of the sponsoring hospitals.

The position I'm interviewing for is as a Cytology Applications Specialist with TriPath Imaging. I'd be supporting labs in NC, VA and MD that have the TriPath system(s) in place for their pap test caseload.

Re: colon issues (sorry)
God, I love this thread. I'm a new runner (just started in August) training for my first marathon in January. I also have no colon. I had a total colectomy almost 10 years ago (wow ... time flies when you're stuck on the crapper). I cannot tell you all how much I identified with every post I've read on this board. It might just become my new favorite thread. I haven't really had a ton of issues with my lack-of-colon and running, but I just wanted to say hey and throw out my support to everyone who has to deal with various IBS/Crohn's issues!!

Mandi-Good luck! I am glad you have found this thread helpful to you. Was your colon removed due to Crohn's?

Re: colon issues (sorry)
Ulcerative Colitis, actually. But I keep getting infections in my inside pouch (pouchitis) that makes the dr.s think it might have been Crohn's after all. But I've been more or less healthy for the majority of those ten years, so the distinction of Crohn's vs. Colitis doesn't matter a ton to me.

Re: colon issues (sorry)
Mandi-I have UC also. I have had it for over 20 years, but luckily, it hasn't been bad enough to warrant any hospital stays. I take Colozal now daily, and also Prozac. Good luck on your running adventure.

g'morn mandi and shelly

welcome mandi!!
More power to ya...I'm impressed that you're out there running.

my colon was in fine FINE rebellious form during my 4:30am run today....sheesh...the T-day meal wasn't sitting well, that's for sure.

I stopped counting the pitstops, but am pretty sure it was 4x in 6 miles.
OY!

Re: colon issues (sorry)
WTPJ -- I am so sorry! I remember how bad it got for me before the colon removal and I can't imagine trying to run through colon tantrums. It was hard enough for me to sit through a movie, let alone trying to run. I haven't read through this whole thread, so I apologize if you've already covered this, but have you been to a GI doc? It just seems incomprehensible to me that there's nothing that can be done to help you! I wish I had some advice or words of wisdom, but I'm **** (pun intended) at that kind of stuff. Good luck!
