Congrats to Del Ducks PWAA and their fine season but it looks like once again an easy Banner grab at Nationals for this squad. With them being moved down from 2a, where they should have played last year, to 1a now, the lowest bracket. Not sure what USA hockey is doing unless the Ducks have used their power having their president as VP in the Dvhl for this placement.
What are you trying to say Blueline? How would the DVHL have any say or voice in this Nationally run tournament by USA hockey. It is true last year the Ducks team played some inferior talent leading up to their win but that wasn't their fault that U12A talent teams were sent to participate.
And if there were other AA teams from Delaware the Ducks wouldn't have this free pass and would have to have a playoff to advance from the state but since the Blue hens don't field AA teams the Ducks go automatically. The 18AA 's are also going to Nationals and also were moved down to 1a.
I would just like to congratulate the Ducks u12 and u18 teams. u12 finished 4th overall in their 1A conference and u18 finished 2nd in a hard fought game that brought out their true drive and spirit led by their inspirational head coach
Are you saying hard fought because of the embarrassing fight during the game. Looking at the scoresheet those ducks players went out in style. My first reaction was "Who fights at natioanls" and even worse "in the finals"
Both teams had players thrown out with 2 seconds left, are you blaming the Ducks for that? Must be hard for that group and frustration set in since they have come close to winning but coming up short the past few years with playoffs and Silver sticks.
Before any of you talk about how embarassing the Ducks were, you need to talk to someone who was there or watch the video of the game. The Maine team left the bench en masse and attacked the Duck players on the ice. There were a 4 on 1 fight, a couple of 3 on 1 fights, and a 2 on 1 fight. Two Duck players were cut during this. The Duck players on the bench were held back by their coaches until it was obvious that players were getting hurt and the refs could do nothing about it.
I personally would like to know what the Maine coach said to each of his players as he tapped each on the shoulder right before the incident. Because as soon as the faceoff happened and two guys were pushing, they all came off the bench as one.
This will be resolved at the National and District level. Let's see what they have to say.
