Big Toes killing me

For a while now (over a year) I've got dull pain in both big toes.

I'm flat footed and wear motion control shoes (Beast). My toes become numb after running a couple of miles and ache later in the day.

I recently had an unrelated injury and took a couple of months off and they are still bothering me.

Anyone else had to deal with this?

Re: Big Toes killing me
I have had some problems with numb big toes. I moved to a shoe that flexes more between the heel and ball. I'm a heavy runner (230 pounds), so I still needed the cushion. I run in New Balance 1060s.

Also, I still have issues with my shoe laces. I like a tight shoe, but tight laces can numb my toes also.

Try loosening your laces a bit. Good luck.

Re: Big Toes killing me
I have a problem with pain in my big toes, mainly worse in my right foot rather than left. Becuase the pain wasn't acute, and was kind of dull and annoying, i waited for a while to get a diagnosis.

I wear motion control shoes too (Kayano) and recently went to see a podiatrist, although the shoes are stopping the pronation, both my big toes were 'impinged' at the joint. This meant that instead of the normal pronation that occurs with running and then push off with the big toe, I was pushing off the joint under the big toe.

I had orthotics made to release the pressure on that toe joint.

So far they've been great.
