Under OBR: "When a catcher and batter-runner going to first base have contact when the catcher is fielding the ball, there is generally no violation and nothing should be called."
Is there an equivalent rule or interp under NFHS, and if so, can someone point me to it?
Thanks
Joe G
Sorry - should have been 7.09j - now fixed
OBR 7.09 It is interference by a batter or a runner when...
(j) He fails to avoid a fielder who is attempting to field a batted ball, or intentionally interferes with a thrown ball..."
not sure if this could work in that case.
Joe G.....you hit the nail on the head in that "generally there is no penalty".....Unless, in the umpires judgement, the contact was intentional? TM PS I love sunglasses too.
