Well I've been off for a little while because iHoops has had some maintinence issues but all in all I was kind of off for the last few days. I went to see an Illinois football game last Saturday then my grandma had here birthday. So I didn't have much time to do anything that day. I have tryouts in about exactly one month so if you would like to post some drills and tips for me to get better(preferably shooting because I'm trying to improve there) please post a comment. Sorry this isn't a long post. I'll have longer ones soon.
Yesterday I was at a high school football game and severly strained/pulled my groin during a mini football game. It's been so hot here and I haven't trained for the past 3 days and more days to come. My knee is fine now. Sorry I couldn't post much.
Today I didn't do much and I have taken about 4 days off. I'm not proud of it but I just haven't found time. Tommorow I'm going to train insanely. And thanks EPE09, the icing worked. I'll right more next time. I just don't have anything to write about.
Yesterday I didn't train at all because a dude who isn't in my family but is like an uncle came over. The day before that my little brother had a football game so I had to go to that and we got out of school early it was so hot so it was hard to train because of the heat. And today in P.E. we were playing football and I dove for a ball(caught it) and temporarily hurt my right knee. Also hurt my right elbow. And since I rely on my knees in my shot I can't shoot. So I practiced ball handling for half an hour today. Thanks for reading
This week I trained a lot. My grandpa came over to help me with some catch and shoot drills and other things you need two people for. My dad helped me last night after school. He helped me with some transtition shooting. Today I'm gonna work with ball handling first then do a LONG shooting session. Shooting is really my only weakness. So if you could post some drills that I could use to help me shoot better it would help me a lot. The drill that has helped me with my game that doesn't have to do with shooting or ball handling is squats except you go down so low so you're in a catchers position. And I do it jumping, with weights, and just plain old squats. On the catchers stance ones I do about 15-20. And I'm gonna keep increasing it as I get stronger. I set my alarm clock to six twenty every morning to do my intense 30 minute workout. Thanks for reading.
I didn't do much yesterday cause it was really hot and I was tired from the first day of school. I hung out with some friends for most of the day. Actually, until 10:00. Today I'm going to do a bunch of shooting drills so if you have any good ones that have helped you please post one. Sorry for it being so short. I'll post more next time.
Sorry for my absence I just couldn't find time to do it. But anyways my past few days have been filled with training and the most crucial part of my game I'm working is my shooting because I'm like Rajon Rondo, not a great shooter. And I don't if you guys heard about what Shaq said. He said they were at some muesem and they were with the president. By they I mean the Celtics. And Obama leans over to Ray Allen and says" Hey Ray" pointing in Rondo's direction"why don't you teach this kid to shoot". And K.G. said the look in his eyes was just devestated. I mean being dissed by the president had to be terrible. And the next night shot terrible. And kind of for the rest of the year. But anyways that's all I have to say. First day of school starting in an hour for me so I have to get ready for school.
Sorry for my absense again. I just never got around to posting stuff. What I've been working on recently is my shot. It got really off from lack of training but I kept on working on it for the past few days and it's about back to normal. Sadly for me, my training days are going to get shorter because school starts on August 18th. With school starting, I'll try to post as much as I can. I'll write more next time.
Sorry for my absense. I've been having back issues which is making it hard to train so I've taken the last 2 days off. I plan on playing a full day today. This week is going to be hot so I'll be taking a lot of water breaks. Sorry this post is so short but I didn't do much the past 2 days because of my back so the next one will be longer.
Today or I guess now yesterday, I created a new workout for myself. I had 2 basketball sessions and 1 workout session. My workout was pretty much the same as normal but more and in my basketball practice I did 10 reverse and regular layups. Also shot 10 f.t.'s and 3's and many other things. Session 1 is a shooting session and session 2 is a ball handling session. The drill of the day is plus 1 minus 2. If you don't know how to play all you have to do is if you make it, you get one point, if you miss you lose 2. Ray Allen uses it. If you're just starting it, I recommend you go to 5. Also, if you get to -5, then you're out. Or -10 depending on what number you had to get to. That's all I've got for today.
Today I didn't have a huge day. Very humid here but got in a good day of training. Illinois is never this hot but it is this year. But I worked on threes, free throws, jumpers, and lay ups. Once again.The lay up drill was the drill of the day today. Helped me the most. Today, though I customized a workout to help every aspect of my game. So I will start it tommorrow. Sorry I don't have that much to say today but it wasn't a huge day for me.
Today was hot. And when I say hot I mean HOT!!!! It cooled off as they day went on though. Practiced less today. For around an hour. When will this heat wave end. Illinois summers are never this hot. Worked on my fadeaway jump shot today. That's mostly what I did. Had an off day from 3 today. Only made a couple today in about 20 attempts. We went to play tennis this morning and I played basketball at the court next door. Then I went to play tennis afterwards. All in all a good day. Well I just finished the rest of my basketball day. Here is an overview of my day. I started off my morning with a toaster struedel for breakfast. Than did my work out(which consists of 200 curls, chest presses, sit ups, etc.) Worked on basically every part of my game and got better at my threes. I keep on getting stronger from the outside so it keeps on getting easier to shoot them. Since I'm only 5"2, shooting and ball handling are the key parts of my game. And if I want to make the pros, then I have to keep on doing this everyday. And what I was doing was jump roping for 10 minutes each day, but then I just stopped and never got back and I'm gonna start again tonight. Spread the word-23AirJordan
Well I didn't see the movie so I had more time to train. But the weather is so hot here and over most of america so it was harder. I plan on going outside again to train today. Gonna keep on training until tryouts. They're in October so a long way to go. But what I figure to myself is, this is my chance to get ahead of everyone else. During this heat wave, no one will be practicing because all of these prima donnas will be afraid they're going to overheat. So to everyone who is serious about basketball and want's to play great this fall, then this is your chance to get ahead. And to all of you NFL fans out there, the season is back on. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm still mad the NBA season is in a lockout. Hope it goes the way the NFL one did. Or if possible, shorter. But I'm still looking forward to college ball. Today I plan on seeing a movie so my training will be in the morning. Today I plan on doing exactly what I did yesterday plus work on reverse lay ups. I used to be great at them and that was my scoring threat but just too long without practice didn't help. And the thing is, if you want to get better at something, you have to make time to get better. Just like I'm doing. To do that, you have to develop a good work ethic. And that's what I have. Instead, I've got friends that just sit around saying they'll make the pros in whatever sport they want. I mean, all they do is sit around and play X-Box and watch Family Guy all day. And I just mutter to myself, good luck with that. So it takes work. And most people don't realize that. Tell your friends-23AirJordan
