Olympic inspiration?

Posted by Sirenita on Aug 22, 2008 6:25:30 PM

Maybe it is the excitement of seeing all of those amazing athletes in the Summer Olympic Games or possibly I am just ready for the next challenge. Whatever the reason is, I have decided to start training for my first marathon...

I will begin a formal endurance training program tomorrow morning with Miami Beach Fit at the daunting hour of 6:30 am for a 6 mile run.

Thus far I have run 4 miles on Wednesday night and again the same route this morning. It took me almost an hour to run the 4 mile run on my first night out, which was ok by me, since I only wanted to prove to myself that I could actually run 4 miles without stopping! Although I have been hitting the gym regularly for a year, I have not incorporated a regular running routine to my work-out...ever...and havn't run more than half an hour at a time in years. I felt a little less accomplished when I figured out how long it would take for me to finish an entire marathon at the pace I ran. With that in the back of my head, I completed the 4 miles in 40 minutes this morning.

Let's see what happens tomorrow morning! I already told me husband that it will be his job to make sure I make it out of bed without hitting the snooze button tomorrow...
