Triathlon swim workout plan

Here's is a copy of todays workout. Keep in mind my focus is Florida Ironman in November. This set's the distance, the intensity and the order of the workout. My secondary focus is racing Xterra offroad Tri's which is a 800 meter swim.

Warm-up:    
800 meter swim at a 1:36 per 100. This is a steady tempo and covers my Xterra training
500 - kick w/fins & broad
500 - paddles & buoy
Main set:
4x 50's at :45sec w/ 15sec rest
2x 100 at 1:30 w/ 30sec rest
1x 200 at 3:00 w/ 30sec rest
2x 100 at 1:30 w/ 30sec rest
4x 50's at :45sec w/ 15sec rest
Cool down:
2x 50 - breast stroke 25 & back stroke 25
50 - kick board no fins
50 - bouy no paddles
50 - finger tip drag swim
100 - catch up swim

Total - 3200meters in 64minutes.

Workout - 3200 meters/yards

Warm Up Set:
4 x 200 (swim, kick, pull, swim)

Pull Set:
200 pull on base
4 x 100 pull on base
200 pull on base

Main Set:
4 x 100 moderate pace on base +5 seconds
100 fast
2:00 rest
4 x 100 moderate pace on base +5 seconds
2 x 50 fast (15 sec between each 50)
2:00 rest
4 x 100 moderate pace on base +5 seconds
4 x 25 fast (10 sec between each 25)

I got off to a great start in February. I had 8 swim sessions, 7 Bike workouts and 11 runs. The winter weather had me moving the training schedule around and I lost some riding days. I tried to get my core workout every other day.

 

 

Going into March my race schedule starts and I have a race each weekend. Depending on the race I will work in a long bike ride 1 or 2 days before or afterwards. I will also add a brick work mid week, where I complete a bike and follow with a run. Depending on the schedule on want to get 2 long runs, 15 to 18 miles. As you can see it will be a busy month. My training goal will be to build up to a strong 4 hour session.
