walking and yoga today

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 16, 2008

Today, it was amazing outside.  I went for a 6.5 mile walk... wow.

I attempted to start Yoga.. I think I'll give it a few more attempts... I liked it, I'm not good at it, but I've got some free classes and things to learn thanks to this guy.

Evening Run

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 15, 2008

This morning I left the house without going for a run.  I had a lot going on, and at the time I thought that was the best decision.  I felt guilty and upset about this idea at about 10:00 while sitting at my desk.

I ran around the lake tonight when I got home... It's nice to run when the sun is up.  1/2 hour of running... solid.. nice.

I feel amazing.. my energy level is amazing, and this fitness thing might actually stick.

fast run

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 14, 2008

I got up this morning to hit the long run around the lake, but it was dark and cold.  I was concerned about making it to the train in time.  I ended up doing the short version of my morning run, but I ran it faster than normal.. hit my 20 min jog in 17 min... seems like cheating, so I might go for a longer walk tonight after work.

I wanted to give my knees a bit of rest from the pounding of jogging.  I went for a hike with my wife this morning... amazing.

Goal Number 2 -- CHECK!

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 8, 2008

Tonight I took a jog, but at the moment

when I usually turn to head around the inside of the lake I felt the

urge to keep jogging. I went around the entire lake and didn’t stop

jogging until I was back at the corner of my street. Hills, distance,

and time all increased, it’s time to start heading down the real road.

I will be in the best shape of my life.

Last week I burned an extra 2500 kcal.. tomorrow, I’ll hit the gym and go for a long bike ride.

Another Day

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 6, 2008

another quick run. I went around my loop the opposite direction… seems

the same, but different. I don’t know if I like running that way. I

plan on running most days this week. I’ll write if I have something to

say or if I don’t run I’ll confess to the world.

It?s On?

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 4, 2008

The quest for health and happiness continues. After hitting up the

bike at the gym last night, I managed to not make any excusses this

morning and head out for the sunrise jog. I actually jogged the

completee distance of my origional goal from monday, and I think my

ability is progressing nicely. Still not jogging very far, but I am

trying to really focus on making small incremental progress.

In the past, I’ve always destroyed my body when running.  Even if I attempted to follow a regiment (I’m a big proponent of this one),

I always found myself wanting to push harder, or genuanly feel as if I

was not working enough to progress. It’s taking some dispiplin to hold

back, but my plan is to make short distance goals on a weekly basis. By

short distance, I’m talking an extra 2 min of run time… not a lot at

So, the ice didn’t stop me this morning…

(April / Ice / wtf?) The rain forcast for tomorrow will give me a good

excuse for a PLANNED rest. I might have to spend some time getting back

to writing poetry or something…. have a good one.

getting to be normal

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 3, 2008

This morning I woke up and had to run around a get a few things done.

When I got home, the sun started to shine, and I hopped out the door

for a 20 min run… starting to get the hang of this.  Baby steps.

Health Check

Posted by dtyler21 Apr 3, 2008

I went to the gym tonight… Hit up the bike for a bit.  I need to

remember that I actually own bike shorts.  I should use the bike

shorts.. Going to sleep.  Running in the morning.

Quick update.  At 5:15 this morning, I got

up and went for a jog in the rain.  I feel good, starting to feel a bit

stiff.  Tomorrow, I will sleep in a bit and hit the gym at night… I’m

thinking a nice long bike ride and a steam bath will do some good.  I’m

glad the rain didn’t deter me from sticking with this health thing…

And now this blog is officially about me, my soap box, and has content that no one would care about if they are not me.  Meh.

This Morning, I Went For A Run

Posted by dtyler21 Mar 31, 2008

True to my previous statement about making a public commitment to fitness for motivation,

I wanted to write and say that at 5:15 this AM, I got up and went for a

20 minute jog. Now, that doesn’t seem like a lot, but believe me… I’m

NOT a runner. If my knees don’t die on me, I plan on doing this on a

more regular basis. Here’s to mental and physical health in this

stressful and crazy world. I’ll keep you posted as I “run for fun” in

the next several weeks.

Special thanks to The Zen Runner for that hallway conversation that probably was a bit more inspiring than he even knows.

Supplimental Addiction

Posted by dtyler21 Mar 3, 2008

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I have an addictive personality.

(whatever that means) Anyway. Yesterday, I joined a gym. I’ve been

dreading going back to the gym. Not because I’m embarrassed about being

out of shape, but it’s hard to swallow the fact that what used to be a

warm-up before my workout now is basically all I can do before wanting

to pass out and take a nap. Today, I had my first gym workout in

several months.

Why the self-indulgent post on the internet?

I’m writing about my fitness goals for a public commitment.  Seems like a good technique for motivation.

Now that my lungs are burning, my head hurts from dehydration, and I’m

officially out of shape… This is my public vow to get back into shape.

I seem to already be obsessing a bit in my mind. Addiction is funny.

Tomorrow, I’ll go for a hike. I’ll be writing about my fitness goals in

the future. Thanks for stopping by.
