- About Me: I was born & raised in the South. Yes, I am a true Southern girl who loves SEC football & the hot sultry summers of the South where I call home. I enjoy running, spinning, baking, reading, throwing frisbee, the beach, and pretty much any activity that gets me outdoors. I volunteer as a team captain & mentor for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program & encourage many athletes and self proclaimed couch potatoes through the months of training and the many aches and pains it takes to cross the finish at 26.2. I am currently training for the Marine Corps Marathon in Oct. I am also running the St Jude Memphis marathon in Dec. to honor my best friend Laura, who fought her battle with cancer at St. Jude, when we were in the 1st grade, and won!******* 7-13-08 update.....Marine Corps has come and gone! It was a fun race although I got to the start line....to the bag drop off rather....32 min after the gun. Yes, I was late on race day! I crossed the start line at 41.something min and just kept on keeping on until I crossed the finish 26.2 later! It was a stressful start, but another race story to tell my friends! I got sidelined from a reoccurring injury and didn't make it to Memphis last Dec. I am currently training for Chicago 09' as the captain of Team Hope, my St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charity team. Happy running!******* "Every journey begins with a single step"
