2009 WHS 5K Run for Scholarships

My 1st 5K ... come race day, I went first in line as someone was doing some last minute announcements and I couldn't hear it, then bang the gun time started.  I was forced to start with the fastest runners, I have no idea then, I thought I can go at the same pace with them but within just few meters away I was tired and started walking, walking and more walking. Everyone passing me.  I did a lot of slow running & walking, huffing and puffing most of the time.  At the end I was just so glad I was able to cross the finish line.  I was so hungry, tired and sore.

I was talking to a runner at the finish line and I mentioned about this is my first marathon and was bragging about it.  He started laughing and told me that a marathon is 26.2 miles not 3.1 miles, hahahaha.  He asked me, did you train?  I said No, I just signup and showed up here and run.  Didn't know you need some training even for a 5K race ...

But glad that embarrasing moment is over.  My obsession for running begins and found the c2K program ...

Will run again next year as I'm supporting my daugher's school.

83 out of 169 finishers: 32:09 minutes @ 10:21 pace which I think is not bad for a 1st 5K :-)
