Just looking for a little advice from the more seasoned runners. I have run one full and several half marathons over the last couple of years, but have not been in this situation before. I came down with a raging stomach flu the afternoon before my half-marathon last Sunday (5/29) and had to drop out. It’s Tuesday now and I am feeling better, though eating only very plain things and still a bit weak.
There happens to be another half marathon not too far away on Sunday 5/6. I want to try and do it if I am feeling up to it. I was trained and in good shape before I got sick. I ran 8 miles, 3 miles and 3 miles followed by 2 days of rest leading up to the race. So now I have not run in 5 days…definitely the longest break i have had in a while!
Does anyone have advice on how I can be ready for a half marathon in 5 days? Should I try to ramp it up, or just do a couple of easy 3 milers?
Thanks in advance!
