The UK is looking into banning cars in school zones in order to get kids to walk more and shed some pounds in the process. Like in the US, children in the UK are gaining weight due to the lack of activity in their lives and this is the solution they came up with. The plan will also cut down on the amount of driving for parents.

What are your thoughts? What do you think of the plan? Would this work in the US?
Love this concept! Parents could walk or bike with kids to school, park car a distance away for more activity. This is a win win situation. Would love to see this occur in the States, my child rides public transportation, but it is chaos with all the vehicles at drop off and pick up. Enviromentally friendly also!
I like the concept as well. It's funny how the simplest policies can have such a huge impact. Unfortunately, I think our suburban landscape will make this a bit difficult to implement, but considering the crisis we face with childhood obesity, it's worth a shot. Interesting post, thanks for sharing.
