Total gimmick. If you can't keep track of your sets and you need to have your weights tell you how many calories you've burned (and you're filling your weights with water), you're not the type of person to stick and advance with a strength training program. Although it provides a multitude of health benefits, lifting is boring. A pair of talking blue baby rattles isn't going to help.

Whaddaya know -- I spoke too soon. I just bought them! What a perfect Christmas gift for my friend's two year-old son. :) I've been curling him since he was two weeks old (not so much, though, ever since that incident at Costco when his mom caught me doing biceps curls with her progeny over the frozen fish) and now he'll be able to do his very own. Awww.
