So I saw the 'Run' titled song thread, and I thought I would start this one. I have several songs on the playlist, that although they are not 'running/race' theamed, I thought them funny/and or ironic to put them on my Race Day Playlist. Here are a few I have (you'll see it trends toward pop):
Get up and Go -The Go-Go's
On my Way- Rusted Root
Rat Race- Baha Men
Perfect Day-Hoku
Around the World - ATC
Leave me Breathless-The Corrs
I Gotta Feeling - Blackeyed Peas
All I need is a Miracle -Mike & the Mechanics
Miracles Happen -Myra
Rescue-Eve 6
I'm Alright- Theme from Caddyshack
Vacation -Go-Gos

I don’t listen to music when I run, but lately to help me roll out of bed for an early morning run I like to wake up to:
Let’s get it started in here
And the bass keeps runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin
and runnin runnin . . . .

I love the Caddyshack theme! Good call!
Hi, I am relatively new here and haven't posted much, so I hope it is okay to jump in.
This is a playlist I have had for a St. Paddy's Day Race this year:
Crazy/Gnarls Barkley
My Humps/Black Eyed Peas
Bad Day/Daniel Powter (Knew I'd be on a hill which I needed Slow and Steady for)
You Sexy Thing/Hot Chocolate
Jumpin Jack Flash/Stones
There she Goes Again/The La's
Your Love/The Outfield
Baby Got Back/Sir Mix a Lot
Sweet Child O MIne/Guns N Roses
Wiggle It/Two in a Box (A reminder to use hips, as I tend to run stiffly)
Live Like You Were Dying/Tim McGraw
She's So Cold/Stones
Brandy/Looking Glass
Let's Get the Party Started/Pink
Lump/Pres of the United States of America
A lot of the songs remind me of an event or a person or time which is more energizing than the words.
For an upcoming half (which I can't run due to injury), I was going to ask people who mean a lot to me to give me the names of two songs they find inspiring, upbeat, etc. Then, I was going to download them so I could think of these people to get me through it. Parents, kids, coworkers, friends...So, when I really do get to run my first half, I think I will try that.
That sounds like a great idea. I may try that next time. Sorry to hear about your injury.

"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." - John Bingham

Walking In a Hurricane-John Fogerty
Shinkicker-Rory Gallagher
I've read about the "fight or flight response" to scary things and wonder if it might apply to musical choices while running.
With that in mind, I wonder if adding scary music to the run list would work? If so, could any music be scarier than anything by Cannibal Corpse? Something like "Unleashing the Bloodthirsty"? (I couldn't make this stuff up.)
The thought of fast zombies (or whatever) chasing me might push me to a PR. Or give me a heart attack.
If anyone has tried this, please let us know whether it works.

I loved reading everyone's response here so I thought I would add my favorites. Here is my list of training songs and as you can see I have a little variety. I plan to down load some of them Go Go's tunes!
As you can see I am from the 80's, grew up in the counry but went to school in the big city, and may be a bit confused lol, thanks for posting this.
