Pain on inside of lower legs

I run, I feel fine, well as fine as *I* can feel. But when I'm done and for the rest of the day I have a knotted, stiff, painful leg.  It is not my shin and it is not my calf.  It is on the inside of my lower leg between the two.  I think it is too far away from the shin to be shin splints (plus it doens't hurt when I run).    I'm fine running but as soon as I stop it hurts, and hurts bad, I can barely walk.  Any ideas what this is and what do do about it?

I was having the same problem and I was told that it's just an increase in my mileage and speed.

Perhaps if you gave us a little more info on your training habits we'd be able to answer your question better.  How often do you run? How far? What's your pace? Have you recently increased any of these items?

If you cross your leg such that the bad leg's ankle is on the opposite knee, and you make small circles with your toes - rotating at the ankle, is it the muscle right behind the shin bone (you can feel it contracting and relaxing with each foot revolution) that gets sore?

This could be an achilles tendon tear -- you need to see a doctor ASAP.

Re: Pain on inside of lower legs

    Two things:

It has been a while since I had shin splints, but as I recall my shin splints did not hurt while running.  They'd hurt other times.  They'd hurt for a short time during the run but would then go away.  It was non-running when they hurt.  So I wouldn't assume it's something besides shin splints just because they don't hurt while running.

My posting/question was very unclear.  I'm not asking if you re-create the pain when you do what I described.  I'm wondering if that muscle I described contracting & relaxing is where you feel the pain?  If you push lightly on the skin right behind the shin bone while your foot is rotating you can feel a muscle contract & relax.  is that where the pain is or is it closer to the bone - as if it was in between that muscle and the bone?

Look up posterior shin spints and see if that sounds like the pain you are experiencing. I am contending with this right now. Didn't really think I had shin splints because the pain wasn't on the front of my calves. This pain is just below where my calf muscle bulge is -the inside of the calf.

My calves, shins, and back all hurt when I'm not running.  Once I start running, they don't hurt.  Once I have cooled down, they start hurting again.  The body is bizarre.
