I just finished a marathon this past Sunday (10/10). It was my second of the year an my third overall. I am on the verge of signing up for another one on 11/14. That would be five weeks between marathons. I have the idea that there is really no need for any long runs (anyting over 15 miles) between now and then. I am feeling maybe get about 5-8 miles of easy running in the week and up to 12 or so the next week. I am thinking of running half-distance at once the following week and then take it easy with a handful of 3-5 mile runs with a few at marathon pace. Should I be ok? Any suggestions? Oh, I run about 240lbs.
I am not a marathon runner but your plan sounds similar to what my friend does who runs them. Good luck!

I agree with you on your training scedule and on not running more the 14 miles before the next one, no need. Last year I did 2 marathons in 3 weeks and never ran over 10 miles and had no problems with the second one. This year Im runningthe same 2 marathons as last year and the first one is a week later so im doing 2 in 2 weeks.
stay healthy, injury free and have fun......
It's not only about finishing, its about finishing healthy!
