Knee Pain

I am a very new runner who waited to start at age 42 and have just recently completed my 1st Half Marathon. During the 3-4 months of training I had no major pain besides normal soreness. About 9 miles into the half, I felt my left knee begin to feel sore but nothing that caused a stop. I pushed through and finished and had about 10 minutes of walking around and the knee just became very stiff and sore. Less than 48 hours later, I'm having difficulty navigating stairs with a pain that is only at one spot in the knee travel. No pain completely bent and no pain completely extended, but there is one position that was painful to pass through. This pain was reduced after day 4 and finally went away all together around day 7-8. Ok, today is day 11 and I went for a run to see how it would do. Around 2.5 miles, the pain returned and it was difficult to run. I stopped and walked back in quite concerned. As a new runner, I've really found something that I wish I had been doing for years and am not sure what the issue is here. Pain is located inside of the knee with most in the back and outside. Have taken Anti-Inflammatory and it feels ok several hours after run. I've read several things on the IT band and wondering if I should see an Ortho for it?
