Caroline, I will look into that, thanks for the information. And never, ever give up!!! I thought to myself recently why do I run? I have many reasons, amongst them I run for my wife who is a breast cancer survivor, I run because I see how my parents have to take a multitude of pills daily to live, I run to raise money for a variety of charities and to I run to be healthy! I also run because I can, I see so many people with disabilities who can't even stand on their own so each and every time I run, I thank God for giving me my health and the ability I have to be able to run!! So, again never, ever give up!!!!

Caroline:  that's great!!!  but rest when you need to do so.

Chuck:  let me know what you think of yoga.  i think you might like it.  however, don't give up on it just because it seems slow at first.  the benefits really are wonderful!

ok, i didn't get to doing speed work yesterday because i've been running around like a mad woman getting things done for my kids and being dragged into meetings.  however, i am looking forward to my 4-5 mile run this morning.  another ridiculously busy day w/meetings and such.  it's somewhat raining outside off and on.  it's one of those days where it's not too cold and sprinkling off and on for a fresh environment outside.

    have a great day!

    Hi guys,

I will never give up living a healthy lifestyle Chuck, but if my body want to do something else I will listen. Having said that i will run a half marathon! I want the bumper sticker.lol

I did Bikram hot yoga today and i have not felt this good in weeks. My hips feel awesome! I am addicted and am joining for once a week at least. I feel amazingly peaceful and at ease.

    Hi all!

I was hoping to elicit some advise for speed workouts.  My goal this summer is to improve on my 5k time and I've have scheduled days in for speed work outs and was wondering if anyone had any workouts they really liked.

    thanks

    cheers!

OK First Half Marathon is in the books

No speed records by any means (2:24 and change)

Started out very well avg about a 10 min pace, but around mile 9 the altitude difference was getting to me a bit(about a 4,700 foot difference).

Managed to slog through with out walking, some minor hallucinations however

So looking forward to getting ready for the one in July on my home turf.

I really enjoyed the whole experience was worth the effort.

    congratulations, paul! you did great!

i just registered for the big sur half in late november.  it's the first one for which i registered, so i'm excited!  i am still debating on whether i should do the healdsburg half, which is on halloween weekend.  it supposed to be a wonderful half, but the thought of going up early, staying in a hotel, and dealing w/transportation issues is not fun!  i'm still thinking about it, but i'm very excited about the big sur half!

haven't run since friday.  too exhausted to run today, since i just returned from a weekend of being a chaperone of 45 middle school kids for their latin convention/competion.  ugh!  the event was good, but the food was awful, so i haven't eaten well since friday.  i'm planning on doing yoga tomorrow morning and resuming my running schedule.

the weather has been freezing cold, even though it's been sunny.  the wind has really been blowing, so even if it's 56 outside, the wind chill makes it feel more like 46!  plus, there's pollen blowing around everywhere, so i've got watery, itchy eyes and a runny nose.  not fun!

hope everyone had a good weekend!
