i have had such a bad week!  i only did 3.5 miles on tuesday, but at least, they were hills!  near the end, i started getting side cramps so just took it easy for about .25 miles.  that evening, my stomach really starting aching.  i had no appetite.  anyway, i think i had a stomach bug that has finally gotten out of my system.  thank goodness because i have a fun short 4-mile event tomorrow morning.  should be fun, since my husband and two kids are also doing it.  next week, i hope to get back on track!

Nothing wrong with a little variation, keeps you from getting in a rut.

    Good luck in your half.

Congrats to all on their runs last week.  Did a 10K yesterday to get back in the swing of things, 12 weeks before the next half.  Looking for a better time since I'll be at home.

folks- it's been so long since i posted in this forum  that i wasn't sure if  I would remember my log in pass word!

Have been insanely busy the last month or so- it's the start of construction season here- selling  jobs, hiring employees, working roof top with the toolbelt...........

i am still getting a couple of short mid week runs in-and a sunday "long run"--------- my second Half isn't untill October so my Long run currently stays in the 7 mile range.

i am alternating every other sunday with the long run and a Hill run of about 5 miles.

shout out to  Christian---------- Akron summit county  Metro Parks- Firestone Metro Park- very nice 5K course with a MONSTER hill and a couple smaller ones as well- run it twice and it's a really nice hill workout- a nice mix of leg quivering hill running and then recovery run.

Also- I wanted to check in and congrat. the folks who have got their first Half in under their belt!- I did my first last Oct.-and I REALLY was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion at the end of the race . I was wondering if anybody else felt the same thing- I am wondering if  my second Half this fall( and presumeably faster Half) will be as emotional at the finish line.

anyhow-just wanted to check in and say I am still running- but having a bit of a struggle  with balancing the running /training with my work/( climbing ladders all day0- only so much physical energy to allocate!

    Best wishes all,

    stephen

hope everyone had a great weekend!  since my kids were on spring break, i had the whole week "off" with them.  therefore, you can imagine how much running i got in!

last sunday, my family and i did our little 4-mile fun run race.  i shaved off 2:15 from the last time i did a 4-mile run, so i was happy about that.  however, i didn't totally feel like i was at my best, since i was just getting over a yucky stomach bug.  but, i'm glad we did this race!  as for the rest of the week, i only got in about 4.5 additional miles--  all on hills.  i ran about 2.2 miles in the mountains at 5000 ft elevation and felt great!  then, we drove to the central coast--  i was in your neck of the woods over the weekend, caroline.  i ran hills in pismo beach--  about 2.3 miles.  it felt good, too.  since i didn't get a long run in at all, i'm really itching to get one in, so i plan to run 7 miles tomorrow.  i also plan to run 5 miles on wed and fri w/some yoga in between,

chuck:  great job on your first 10k!!!  did you ever look into yoga?  if so, what do you think?

Virginia, just have done a little research on the Yoga, getting ready to drive up to Chicago later this week so been really busy preparing. My YMCA offers the course so I may just try going to a couple of classes to see what is involved, I am also looking into Pilates as a cross training.

    Hi Everyone,

Congrats on your race Chuck! Everyone seems to be doing pretty well.

I am not sure what I am up to. I took another week off after stressing my hip again. I thought I was really back on track but I went for a light 3 mile jog on Saturday and I was limping even after ice. I have been rolling it out too but to be honest I am really fatigued by the whole thing and am going to throw myself into yoga and stretching .

Virginia- I really don't know what will happen with the B2B in May. I just don't know. I hate to think I blew the registration and I am totally bewildered by my body right now. On the bright side I am a lot less down about it as the Yoga really helps with mind and body so I am just resting in limbo right now.

    Peace and congratulations to everyone,

    Caroline

    Congrats Chuck!!!!!!

Everyone seems to be doing great.

Been AWOL for a couple of weeks, still running in prep for the next Half in July.  Got a 7.5 mi. in Sunday and a 5 today.  Not really following much of a plan, will probably jump back on the H.H.  Just pick up from what ever week has 8 Mi as the long run.  And go from there with longer runs.

Hoping to do the January 2012 Ragnar Relay from Miami to Key West.
