I've never had this problem before, but lately, when I swim my foot cramps up. Doesn't happen right away. I swim through it, but it's annoying, and obviously hurts. Why does this all of a sudden happening consistantly? I stretch before I start my workout, so I'm not sure what else I can do.
This would be a "must-read" or "must-listen" for you:

Enjoy.

This was helpful...thanks.
Actually, swim cramping can be caused by plantar flexing in your foot. Basically your foot is constantly flexed back (straight line from knees to toes). You can try to relax your ankles more, so that your feet are not in constant flex.
There's an article here on it:
Triathlon Training - A Free Triathlon Training Community.
That was a good read...thanks.
I get that too sometimes. I find that a good push off the pool wall helps and to bring the ankle back to neutral (90 degrees or so) as previously mentioned does the trick.
