Re: My last run was...how was yours?

ORCoast, thanks for the info.  I didn't think I pronated that much since the wear patterns on my older shoes do not run on the insides of the soles.  I'll definitely pay attention over the next few runs to see if it gets  better, if not then the shoes go back!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran 6.66 miles yesterday after work. Tried to squeeze it in before the rain came down. It was thundering but in the end we hardly got any rain.

Changed up my schedule this week. I usually run Mon, Tues, Wed, with a long run on Sat, but I ran my long run on Sun so that made me change things up. I only ran twice this week (Tues and Thurs) but still achieved my goal mileage before my long run on Sat.

I'm really ahead in my training too. I'm trying to stay motivated to keep getting out there. I don't want to slack off.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

It sounds like you and I have the same style of running... your time is about the same as mine. We would make great running buddies! - if we lived closer as I'm sure you don't live in IL! I took yesterday off because I think I have inflamed my sciatic nerve and don't want to make it worse. I was all ready to go this morning for another 3.2 miles but it was raining and I have yet to try running in the rain. So today I'm going to head over to the gym and try to get it done during my lunch hour. My reward was a new Nike Shox but I got them in the mail yesterday and they are about 2 sizes too small....disappointed!

How did your run go this morning?

FUEL?!  What is the best way to fuel yourself before and during a run?  I finally found the best answer to this question all of us runners ask and it's free!!!!  It's called frustration fuel.  You can't buy it but if you have a 17 yo son, he'll provide it for you free of charge AND in endless amounts.  I could run from Florida to Oregon nonstop with this fuel!!    Had a good run this morning with my new found fuel.

@RunningQueen26 - Congratulations on your graduation from the C25k program!!  Woo hoo!!

@thintally: My wife's brother is 17... if he were my kid I'd be running ultras!

After taking Wednesday off to nurse a sore pair of hamstrings, I found everything working normal yesterday:

AM workout: 3 miles recovery run with the doggie

PM workout: 1 hr. strength, 6 miles @ marathon pace

Sometimes a day off is the only thing that'll get you back on track.  Happy running, everyone!

Last run, I finally did 13.11 on a treadmill, dang that's a long time to be on a treadmill, lol.  Well that doesn't include the mile warm-up ...

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

@JasonCR: Seriously?  13.11 miles?  How did your mind not go numb?  That reminds me of a track workout I did to work on my pace... 10 miles (40 laps) going around, and around, and around...

2 miles recovery with my dog this morning.  She's a tough girl; even going through chemotherapy (lymphoma) she can knock out sub-8:00 miles with me!  Today we did 8:45 pace, and she was happy enough.

    Happy running everyone!

    what a great dog!!

and @JasonCR how did you do it??? i think my limit is 7 miles on a treadmill...but who knows. i guess if you're pushed to run on a TM you will make it happen.

just found a bargain half marathon that fits into my training plan. perfect way to stay motivated before the baltimore half. it's a trail race and a flat out and back course. looking forward to it.

can you run a simple flat gravel trail in regular sneakers?

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Congrats Mulvasa and RunningQueen.  Good runs.  It was only a couple of weeks ago that I hit 3.1 for the first time.  My longest run to date is 3.75.

Just got back from 3 days of camping.  The road around the campground was just slightly over a mile so I did a nice easy 2+ mile run yesterday.  I was going to go for 3, but decided that I'd had just a few too many pancakes for breakfast!  And bacon.  mmmm  I'm going to need a lot of running this upcoming week to work off all the camping snacks.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

@Terranss and @Dreamstate - well, I have a bunch of micro-goals: every .0 and .34 and .67 is the face towel wipe routine, and at every .9 it's the take-a-sip-without-tripping routine lol, and each .0 mile or .5 half-mile I play with the speed setting.  There's also 4 TVs in the gym in front of the dreadmills!  Probably mostly though I'm just a nutcase when running ...

I really don't like it when all the TVs show cooking shows and people stuffing their faces with food eating shows! That's like someone going to an AA meeting, with the TV playing Duff beer commercials ...
