Re: My last run was...how was yours?

@NRDGirl Thanks!! You're still out there kicking butt in the heat, I see. Keep it up and be safe! The summer is almost over.

Ran 4.21 miles today. It was in the 60s as I watched a beautiful sunrise around mile 1.5. I felt kind of winded and had a tough time getting my legs to wake up but I pushed through it. I binged on a 0.5 mile long hill at the end of the run... simply destroyed it. It was a great way to end my run.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

5 miles plus a little at lunchtime yesterday. What a beautiful day it was!  About 75 degrees, sunny, a perfect breeze.  I ran on the towpath by the Delaware and Raritan Canal for the first time since last year and was reminded what a fine barefoot running surface it is.  Not too rough, Not too smooth.  The gravel is just rough enough to keep my attention and to feel like I'd had a good run.  It's only drawback is that it's so flat.  Oh, well - I can go elsewhere for hills.

    Run well, all!

@Mulvasa:  I'm so glad I'm not the only one with treadmill issues.  If I try to run faster than 3.5 mph on the treadmill I feel like I'm going to fall off the back - but on the road I can do at least  5.5 mph. And forget about drinking water or changing the settings.  LOL

This morning was a very easy 3 miles.  Tonight was a strength training circuit on the weight  machines at the Y.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

I'm behind on my posting, but I've had some decent runs in the last few weeks. Managed a 13-miler weekend before last and 11-miler yesterday. Yesterday's run felt great, what a difference the cooler weather makes! If I can continue increasing miles without a problem, I may look for a fall marathon to do. Or half marathon at the very least. But I do feel I've lost a lot of speed and endurance compared to where I was before my spring marathon, so don't think this would be a PR for me.

9.65 miles of trails.  The weather started off hot, then cooled down considerably at the end.  Too bad all the nasty climbs were in the heat!

    Happy running, everyone.

3.62 on Monday, 4.39 yesterday. The weather on both days was pleasant. Seems the is setting a wee bit earlier, or there's overcast. Not sure, but it has been slightly cooler in the evnings. Would love to go for a run right now in this 67 degrees, but Wednesdays are my new rest days and my hamstrings and calves are begging for a break. I'm still tempted to go take a spin and/or pilates class today. Happy running!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran an easy 3 miles on the treadmill this morning. Had to get to work a bit earlier than usual this morning for a meeting, so that meant starting a little early this morning. It's so dark around 5 a.m. so I just went to the gym and knocked out this recovery run.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Decided that since tomorrow is the start of school I would let DD1 have a slow morning by scheduling my patients later in the day, got DD2 off to preschool and went for a 3mi in a very light rain this morning while the older one got cleaned up and ready to be dropped off at a friends house.  Mornings like today make me wish my husband didnt leave for work at 5am, would love to get more mornings to run, but then again I would always be pressed to hurry and get home before he left and a hard sweaty run is always a nice way to end the work day before devoting the evening to the kids.  Rounded out the day by getting 300 crunches in after work and then 90min yoga after dinner, then a walk with the dogs after that.  Wish I was Bill Murry in Groundhog Day because I would love to keep repeating today.  Took tomorrow off for first day of school for DD1 as out tradition is since it is only a 1/2day to go out to lunch and talk about the day and the teacher and the class and any big announcements for the start of the year....but before her day is done I plan on heading down to the river for another morning run...Looking forward to watching the fog lift as I run, always feels like its lifting stress off me too

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Gee can't remember the last time i posted!!

Did I mention the 8mile run early in the morning where I first slipped on mud, then a half a mile later ran back to warn my friend about the mud, turned around and WIPED OUT.  Skinned knee, busted hand, flailing arms -the works

Kept running the last 3 miles and kept thinking about my skinned knee so I overcompensated on my left leg which jacked up my hammy.

Put me out of commission for about a week.  Squeaked in some 3 milers and a 6 miler pushing the jogging stroller.

Only did 2 miles this morning and attempted a .25mile barefoot run.  Not a fan of asphalt

5k race on Sat - first one of the season and then a 15 (hopefully) miler on Sunday.  I'm about a week or two behind on my marathon training.  Feeling a little anxious but still excited.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

@Debm2011... I always run at least 5.0 on the treadmill but at my gym, to the left of the treadmills is a floor to ceiling mirror. I often have to glance over at it because I know I'm about ready to fall off the back! I was watching Oprah last week while running and just trying to do those two things at once was bad enough! Plus, right behind the treadmills is a wall so I'd likely fall off and slam into that, or go thru it! Talk about embarrassing!

I wish I could say "an easy 3 miles!" I've been doing 4 at a pretty slow pace. I've been having saiatic nerve issues though so have been trying to lay off pushing myself too much. People at work are probably wondering why it always smells like Ben Gay

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

It has been a really long time since I posted.

Monday I did 3 miles and most of it was sprints about a minute with about 30 seconds of walking in between. That was tough but maybe it will pay off at my next race. Tuesday I did an easy 4 miles and yesterday was my rest day. I needed it to because I have a few aches here and there. Feel great today and looking forward to another 3 mile speed workout this evening.

The temperature is in the 90's everyday but I still enjoy my runs and really looking forward to the cooler weather. I hope that you all know what you are talking about when you say that I will be faster in the fall.

I so was just bursting with such excitment, and where and how to let it out?  This was the only place I could think of.

Last July all the stars lined up just right and I PR'd and then got slightly hurt, and could never get the stars to line back up.  It has been so frustrating trying to recreate  the magic from that day.  My efforts and training since had all said I should be doing better, but couldn't get within 30 seconds of my prior PR.  Until last night.  I think alot of training, not fully quitting as I considered and posted here 6 months back, and a determined attitude last night finally got those stars to line back up, and finally bested last years PR.

Good to know for certain old age hasn't got the best of me yet.

    Woo hoo.

I ran 3 miles on the treadmill last night, first mile at 6.0, then dropped to 5.5 for a half mile, took a short walk break, then finished up at 5.0.  That's what I call "speed work" LOL.  It has helped me increase my pace on my long runs though!  My knee was also stiff at the beginning of the run; it was fine over the weekend until I got back to my desk job on Tuesday; when I left work on Tues it was painful again.  Guess I need to look at the ergonomics of my chair.
