last weeks 4m on friday as planned forget times though, the weekend was spent with the family running from one event to another as it is now softball and spring soccer season, plus we had a few birthday parties to get in as well, then sunday evening we took the girls down to a creek at a nearby park and caught slamanders and cray fish, just to play outside.  Yesterday was suposed to be 5 mi but started late, so only got 4.46 and ran out of time but it was a 8:59m/m so I'm happy with that, not a thing today yoga tomorrow and hoping to get 10mi in as well, if not, def thursday  so that fri can still be a 4-6m run. Hubby will be out of town saturday and sunday and we have a soccer tournament on saturday and I am assuming that sunday will be spent with my SIL and MIL as usual for Mothers Day.

I came to the realization durring yesterdays run, that on the days I DONT run I feel very stiff and sore in my joints and then after a few miles that state of stiff discomfort is gone and I feel great....guess I should be running every day rather than using it as a reason to skip a run when I'm feeling lazy!!!!!

Traffic was ridiculous and I still had to run errands but I managed to sneak in a quick 2 miler with some speed work included.

Yesterday was a short 3 mile run with the students. Most if not all of them were pretty sore from Broad Street on Sunday. It was good to see how proud they were of themselves and of each other. In my short time as a mentor to these kids, yesterday was one of my fondest moments with them. Even though they were sore they were more determined to get through yesterdays run than I've ever seen them at any practice before the 10 miles down Broad St. I couldn't stop telling them how proud I was of them yesterday for their accomplishments on Sunday. I didn't think any of them would finish before 2:30 but yet 6 of the 9 did just that, with 2 of them coming in under 2:00.I don't think we as adults give children enough credit due to our preconceived notions at times. None of our children had run more than 6 miles before Sunday and most never more than 4, however, they gutted out that 10 miles as if they weren't jump 4-6 miles up in distance. I was glad to them back for more yesterday. So I didn't add another mile, I didn't shave off a minute, I didn't do a new training but yet yesterday might be one of the most gratifying thus far in my short running career.

I hope all are doing well this week!  My last run was the Athens Twilight 5K and it was awesome - just what I needed!! And running the race with both of my daughters made it even more special!  They both had a blast and each improved their times from their last 5K!  I'm very proud of their accomplishments and grateful we're able to enjoy this time together!  As for my time, after taking a few days of rest (and with perfect weather) I was able to set a new PR for  my 5K -  23:50!!  I was thrilled to get my average below the 8:00 pace!  Hopefully I'll be able to keep improving my times until I reach a sub 20 minute 5K....still a way to go!!!

I'm on the north side of Valley Forge National Park, which is just west of Philly.  Your race sounds like a real challenge with the wind and cold.  I ran a Marathon in 1984 in Houston where it started out at 34 degrees and in the middle of the race it started to rain and the temp dropped to 32 by the end.  It wasn't too windy though, as I recall.

I don't run nearly as much as I technically should.  I'm lucky if I get 20 miles in a week lately.  That's more because it's shad fishing season (the best folks have seen in a long time) and I just don't have time to get everything (work, family, fishing) done.  When the shad are done, later this month, I'll be back to 25 to 30 miles/week.

Hey, I won my age group at the Country Music 1/2 Marathon.  What a surprise.  Anyone know what they send you?  It just says awards will be sent 4 to 6 weeks.

On Wednesday, I met up with some people at my running store to go on a club run. It was my first time running with this group but it was awesome. The run club leader is a marathoner. He ran in the Kentucky Derby Marathon last week and 18 other marathons before that!  I did the 3 mile run on an easy out and back path.

Yesterday, I ran 3.5 miles after work all alone. Nice and sunny, about 65 degrees outside with a light to mid breeze. Beautiful weather!
