Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Went out at about 8 PM. I ran around a local lake. It was flat, the weather was cool, there was no wind, I did 10 miles in about 92 minutes, which was about 7 minutes better than my previous best 10 Mile run.

    A good run.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?
Thanks for the reply Joseph. I'll definately keep your comments in mind when I get out there. I just find competing with myself keeps me motivated, but you're absolutely right about the injury as well...it's exactly how I keep injuring myself. As for high temps, since I run with a dog, I have to pick the cool times of the day to run, or else she just lays down in the shade and refuses to move. (I don't know if you've ever tried motivating a 73lb coonhound on a hot day, but my experience says you'll be barking up the wrong tree.)  Thanks again for the solid advice.

Lucy!  Good to see you're back.  Congrats on finishing a tough trail run in the heat.  I think you're tougher than I am.

My last run was a breeze!  5 miles or so on my neighborhood trail last evening finishing around 8:00 PM.  I had to shoo the deer out of my way on the back stretch.  About 75

degrees and dry.  A perfect evening for a barefoot run in the park.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Hey all. I don't post often but jus need to complain.

My last run was a 5k on Saturday morning. I started out getting a little out of breath just walking up a hill to get my number and bag. That startled me a bit but tried to put it out of my mind. After we got started I kept having trouble with my breathing but kept going until a massive hill, which I walked up most of the way. The full 3.1 miles was a struggle and I ended up adding 1 1/2 minutes to my time. I felt like crying. It was hot but I always run outside. And to top that off I ended up with an awful headache that I couldn't get rid of until late Sunday. Anyway, I don't think that I have EVER been so dissapointed in myself as I was on that day. Gona go out and see what my run holds this evening. Thanks for letting me complain.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Sorry to hear you had a rough run on Saturday.  It sounds like you may have been a little dehydrated.  I know I've attempted to run before when I wasn't as hydrated as I should have been and even though it was a route that is normally fairly easy for me, I ended up struggling and having to walk the majority of it.  Hope you are feeling better and get back out there and have a better run!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Looks like You did great despite the hills.  Some courses will be tougher then other courses. Never let the tough courses discourage you.  They will just make you much more stronger for the flat easy courses.

Congrats on your 5k You did great, feel better!!!

P.S. Early this year I ran a 5k Conquer The Hills.  I finished 5 minutes off of my target pace. My last race I beat my PR by 40 seconds. Thats gonna happen because of the different level of difficulty of between courses.

SlowSkinnyRunner: Way to finish the workout! I agree with Katie. You need that blood to circulate with all the oxygen and glucose for your working muscles and it can't if you don't hydrate well the day before and day of the run. Be careful with the heat and lack of hydration as well, since you can easily end up with heat exhaustion or worse heat stroke. Listen to your body.

As for my run today...finished 5.2miles. It was a slow pace (12mm), but since I started later in the morning and it was beginning to heat up, I didn't mind.  Felt good to be out there today.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

    Hi all,

I had my first really hilly half marathon on Saturday (not my first half though).

    85º

    75% humidty

    3 -4 hours of sleep

    More hills than I realized

I finished in 2:45, slower than my flat course pace by 15 minutes, but, my goodness, did I mention the heat and the humidity?  wowzer.

    I'm glad I finished!

My last run was Sunday morning, just a big square in town.  I pulled it up in MapQuest afterward and found out it was 2.86 miles.  I ran the first 1.36 miles before taking a walk break, then did a short run, short walk, ended with a .68 mile run.  It felt good and was improvement over last week's street run

I am finished feeling sorry for myself and have my sights on my next 5k in August, I couldn't find one in July.
