Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My last run was yesterday, Monday morning. It was the Presidents' Day holiday so I was off work and had the weekday luxury of running at 9 AM instead of the usual dawn. Weather was good, about 50 deg, bright sky with very little wind. Did 8.21 mi at 8:54 pace (thank you Garmin for that accuracy). Terrain was rolling hills in my neighborhood; not screaming fast, but I'd sprinkled in several steeper hills (about 5% incline) and some pickup intervals just because I felt like it. Nice.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

6 days in Sunny sometimes rainy S. California and took the last 3 days off from running.  Instead I cross trained Sunday by Inline Skating at the beach for 10 miles.  Monday (Holiday) I biked 20 miles on the beach in 60 degree weather.  Tuesday was a rest day and tonight I ran 5 miles on the treadmill, flat and fast at a 9 miles per hour.  Treadmill tonight because it's snowing in good old Seattle, WA.  I can't imagine -15C (5F)...Yikes!  Lows are supposed to be 15F(-9.4C) here tomorrow...Brrrr  It hasn't been that cold here since the 60's.

    Nice run Lucie

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My last run was absolutely dreadful! I ran a scheduled 7 miler and I opted for the tredamill due to time constraints. I had zero energy at the start, I was sweating profusely within 5 minutes, and I was winded at my normal pace. I ended up walking every 30 seconds for each mile run. To top it off I ended up with a tight hamstring which could probably be attributed to me over-striding to maintain pace. If I wasn't so out of sorts yesterday I would have noticed my form getting sloppy.

Oh well, a 4 miler today. I'm feeling positive this will be a better run.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

51 minutes long and slow for 5.75 miles.  I was barefoot for the 1st mile and then put on the VFFs - the snow melt was too cold for my tootsies.  Temp was nice at 8C (46F).  It was a day for attention to form as a winter's VFF use has allowed me to get a little sloppy.  Spring is indeed just around the corner!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Today my run was.... Interesting, confusing, perplexing . As I do on Wednesday, I ran my four mile route at a moderate pace . Everything was going well until I was on mile four . My left leg abandon me . Really, I don't know how else to describe it . I felt like my left leg was a club . It was hitting the ground with a lot more force than my right and there was minor pain in every joint . I couldn't relieve it by adjusting my speed or gait . Two minutes in to my cool down walk, all the pain and discomfort was gone . Does anyone have a similar experience ? Any tips ?

                                                              Thanks,  Marc

Had to hit the dreadmill on Tuesday and today. Ran 3 miles each day. It snowed here in MD on Tuesday and it really put a damper on my outdoor run. I did what I could...hoping for a snow-less week next week so I can up my mileage.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My last run was pretty good! The predicated rain didn't show, so I had lots of pretty clouds and a perfect temp of 43F (6C). This was my longest run yet, at 7 miles (11 K). 511 ft (156 m) total climb. I'm a fairly new to running and am training for my first half marathon. The race is scheduled for 2 days after my 64th birthday. I'm trying to build endurance slowly to avoid injury, but my feet and knees are warning me I might be pushing a bit too fast. Fortunately, i've planned next week with only short "recovery" runs. You guys are impressive with all that running in harsh weather, and the long miles. Best of luck to you!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

My last run OUTSIDE was lots of fun, I ran a 26:10 5K but my elation was ruined by the fact that I lost my house key somewhere in my loop, and I really didn't have time to run the loop AGAIN in hopes I would find it - I had to pick my daughter up soon from school. Yesterday's gym run was kinda rushed, I didn't have much time so I was only able to run about 2.3 miles, 20 min or so. Today I had a little longer so I used the speed interval setting and went almost 5 miles in an hour, but I walked for awhile, ran some of it around a 5.5 speed, and the rest of it at 6.1.

Running on the treadmill is kind of my way to gauge what my 'comfortable' pace is. Unfortunately because of the weather it'll have to be what I do until it's decent out again - but I started out having my 'comfortable' be around 5.0 and now it's around 6.1.... outside I'm still running about 6.8-7.0 and I'm not sure why, but I'll take it. My long run I guess will have to be tomorrow, so i expect to be running it on a treadmill.... sigh.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

8 miles today at a nice relaxed pace through some pretty scenic areas, one of those runs that makes you glad that you're a runner. Weather was light winds and hovering right around 50 and, about halfway through, I spotted a Blue Heron about 4 feet off of the trail. Stopped for about 30 seconds to check it out as it slowly walked away from me. Cool stuff.
