Re: My last run was...how was yours?

4.6 miles this morning with some pretty decent sized hills. Temps were in the 60's, overcast, a light drizzle and nice breeze. Can't remember the last time we've seen a morning like that in Atlanta. Awesome run.

Ran a HILLY 5K this morning.  Ended up finishing around 28:30 or something like that.  It always amazes me when running down hills how few of people take advantage of gravity!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran hills on Thurs - planned on taking fri & sat off but a friend called Friday night and asked if I would run with her.

We did 3 slow miles chit chatting the whole time.  I was getting stir crazy anyway so it was good to get the kid out of the house with me for a run - she went to bed immediately after hehehe.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to do 9 miles again pushing the jogging stroller.  Last week I did 4 slow miles and sped up for the last - but tomorrow I'm going to try to keep it slow for the whole run and TRY to maybe go an extra mile or two   we will see........

Did 11 miles today pushing the jogging stroller!!!!!  My pacing was kinda all over the place because I conquered two 100'+ hills so I was slow going up and fast coming down

Overall average pace was about 10:18 which I was thrilled with!!!

Now I'm vegging on the sofa!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Hi all!  I haven't posted here in a while, but I've been checking in now and then to see how folks are doing.

My legs are still in recovery form this morning's run, a 15K trail race called the Quadzilla. I didn't think about the name until this morning after seeing the locale of the race.  Quadzilla means QUAD KILLER.  I heard that there were 7 main hills.  I lost count.  They were killers!  30 to 45 degrees steep, rocky, long and they just kept coming.   On the other hand,  the scenery was beautiful if you like rolling hills.  The weather was as nice as you could ask for on a July morning, a cool 67 and sunny.  The Lehigh Valley Road Runners ran the race and did a good job of water stations and recharge snacks at the end.  It seemed that portacans were in short supply before the race, but I wasn't in needs as much as the 50 or so people in line for the 3 cans the supplied.

I ran it in just under 1:50, which I consider a great success, considering how much time I spent walking.  I placed 142 out of about 375 or 400.  Respectable.  This race brought me as near as I can remember to thinking about DNF.  I'm glad I stuck with it, though.

    Run well, all!

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

Ran 4 miles this morning... supposed to get up to the mid-90s today so I wanted to get in a good run.

I was experiencing some annoying knee pain on Friday during my long run so I took it easy on Saturday and restricted my workout in the weight room to upper body and core only.  I simply took a rest on Sunday by staying off of my feet. Must have worked because I didn't feel any pain at all today.  Also, I didn't stretch before running.  I think that helped too.

I'm scheduled to do weight training twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) but I think I'm going to do those workouts early in the morning and still get in some hill work (Tuesdays) and speed work (Thursdays) in the evenings for about an hour or so.  We'll see how that works out.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

With today being mid 90s with 60-70% humidity I arranged todays patients to allow another morning run...liking this arrangement except that I am limited to no more than 4 miles and that is only if I can get out the door on time but due to kids and dogs that doesnt seem to happen often...so today was 3.2 mile with a 9:30 pace felt really sticky since it was already 74 and at 54% humidity but felt good.  Looking forward to thursday, I will have the day off and be able to get a longer run in...its been a while since I've done more than 6 miles so I cant wait until DH gets home from Alaska next weekend, so that I can start increasing my miles again...not sure but hoping to be able to do a 10mi race in august and 10k in sept  (would love to go to Erie for their marathon in sept but know I couldnt be ready for a full by then and dont want to make a weekend trip for a 1/2..next year's goal!!!)....thinking I will alternate short morning runs with longer evening runs and see how that goes...once the cooler weather comes I will probably just switch back to my old routine of work in the morning and run in the afternoon, long or short.  No AM run tomorrow due to early morning case management meetings, and looking at the forecast for tomorrow think I'm gonna get in an afternoon run on the TM

I didn't even know Best Buy sold Garmin watches!!!! Great info!

And like NRDGirl, I was thinking it wasn't in the budget to get the much more expensive watch. I thought they were all priced in the 3 digits.

@ Nikki, I ran out of the house and headed to Best Buy almost immediately after I saw your post. LOL It was still $199 at my Best Buy. I was heartbroken. How did you even hear about that sale? I've been looking for it to come down on Amazon and even checked e-Bay, but those low bids always go way up on e-Bay so I might as well just spring for a new one.

@ Dreamstate: Yea, the lowest price I've seen advertised is $128 and that was on Amazon.com. Nikki really lucked up with that $60.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

We're back from vacation. I did do a couple runs during our trip, one at  Camp Lael and one at Wisconsin Dells. Nothing remarkable about either  other than that they were both a bit hilly. I'm hoping that all these  hilly runs I have been doing for the past few weeks are getting me ready  for Brooksie Way Half Marathon in October, which is supposed to be a  challenging course.

I didn't run a particularly long way (it is nice to now think of 6 and 5  mile runs as mid-distance), nor did I run particularly hard, but at  least I did something. Ran a bit this morning too, but it was already  quite hot at 8:30 am (I woke up at 6, saw that the news station said it  was 78 degrees and fell back asleep. It was in the low to mid 80s by the  time I got going.)

My schedule may allow me to get a couple runs in this week. Next race  isn't until the Warrior Dash Indiana in about 3 1/2 weeks. I plan to do a  10 mile run this weekend if all goes as planned.
