Well.. I'm 15 Turning 16 next month.. I'm a sophmore that just moved to Orangeburg, SC and i recently fell in love with basketball.. I never played on a basketball team before in my life, But i've always had a basketball with me.. i've always played it at The Y or at a park with my friends.. I think im really good at handling the ball, but i could get better at shooting and laying up (which is what im working on right now).. anyways I wanna know if i's too late for me to play on an AAU team or my HS Varsity team..
P.S. I'm 5'10
Got the best vertical in 10th grade as i can dunk now but not sure if thats good enuff to play on an AAU team or my HS team..
No, its not to late to play basketball for you dude, because im almost in the same situtation you are in right now. I started to love basketball late, but unlike you i didnt know how to play at all. But then i practiced over the summer with aau teams, and i have gotten way much better than i was before. All it takes is hard work and dedication, im a freshman, i have a nice shot, and good defense ( it can improve), and im working on my handles as of right now. But, if you work really hard at getting better, I bet you can make your varsity squad by next year.
Thanks, that really helped. I just wanna know how can I sign up for AAU? Do I need a form or anything? Where can I find tryouts in my local area?
no, dude you are still hecka young take it from a guy who's been playing for a long time..... work really hard, find your strengths, and weaknesses and improve on your game, if you are a good player it's never too late.
I started playing basketball in 6th grade im not that great but can get to the hoop and score.....GOOD LUCK RAINGING3Z
no man. If you work as hard as you can, you can be just as good as some playyers who have been playing since they were 8! Thats just an example but it could happen! Just stick to it!
Nah man its not to late, you would think all people who play at high school, let alone ncaa and nba players, but steve nash didn't start playing basketball till he was 13.. you just gotta work hard, just think when ur resting... someone else is working, as long as u stay focused and work hard man u can make it happen.
Killercross5 is right!!
No way its not. Last year when i was 14 i decided i wanted to play basketball i couldnt dribble (it was very ugly) i shot by pushing two hands forward couldnt jump didnt know **** about basketball. Spent the summer doing camps and working my *** off. Made the team two weeks in i made starting 5 for JV. Half way through i made varsity floater. Now im at the point were i could be avging 15+ points a game as a 5 man. Keep in mind this is a private school but its still very possible. I could make a public school team at this point. All it takes its practice. lots of it.
No its never to late to start playing a new sport.
if you can dunk and are good at ball handling and are working on shooting then your good to go and I think you could make a great player.
"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."-Michael Jordan
it is never to late to start playing basketball the only thing that could stop you is not loving the game
its not to late for you find a good team and good luck
