The Ice Dogs will be holding evaluations the week of 4/12 at Hatfield Ice for an age pure 2003 team that will play in the DVHL Squirt Patriot League this season. This league will not allow 2004's. Coach Ken is looking to add to an already solid core of experienced 2003's that played Mite A last year.
The plan is for Ken to continue coaching this team over the years, and to keep the core of this team together over the long haul by keeping it age pure. If the team is all 2003's there will be no turn over each year due to age graduation. Ken is a level 5 coach, and his previous age pure team was nationally ranked in the top 10 for a number of consecutive years. That team evolved to play a AAA like practice schedule and was successful playing AAA teams & tournaments. Ken has similar aspirations for this group over time.

That is a pretty strong statement "play should be better the AYHL as they will allow 2004's"
Since when does age matter? Surely you can agree there are some very talented 04's out there!
You had 2 teams that played Mite A hockey this year, what were their records? Rhetorical.
You have a decent program and I hear Ken does a great job, base you add on those facts, not what others are doing!
Neutral Zone- Fair enough, it was not meant to be taken that way and I revised the post. Just meant to state the fact that next year's Patriot leagues are not the same. This is an all 2003 league, and in theory should have a higher level of play not because it is better but the children will be older. Of course age isn't the end all be all, and I'm sure there are some 2004's out there that can outskate 2003's, and where the best 2003's end up makes a difference. As for the Ice Dogs Mite teams this year one may have better been suited as a B team and did very well against B competition. The other finished 4th out of 10 in A, both teams were primarily made up of 2003's and based on this did quite well and should be set up for suceess this coming year with the children returning.
Thanks for your professionalism, good luck to your program.
Good stuff :). I think the Squirt Patriot idea for both leagues will prove to be a good one. I'm sure there will be a lot of non league games scheduled between the Patriot teams of both divisions. The upside is a lot of great competitive hockey locally before you even have to think about traveling far away.
