Way to go on W2D2!! You rock!! I agree about NOT jumping ahead to get a sneek peek! It's intimidating. After all, it is true that you can only run one session at a time. Even the crappy sessions are still faster than sitting on the couch, so beating yourself up for a crappy session is NOT allowed! A bad day running is still better than sitting on the couch going nowhere.

Ya I'm not looking ahead anymore or I won't make it ahead!!  I haven't had shin problems but I know a lot of people in general that have shin splints even just from walking.  I think it's something you have to work through unfortunately.  Well that's what my friend thinks but she says she's not sure because she always quits when her shins hurt.  We have started and quit 100 things together!  LOL  Hopefully it will work itself out!  Isn't it frustrating when something like that makes it hard to do things that are good for you??!!  It's just not fair!!

It's very frustrating. I think the main thing is to listen to your body, especially starting out like we are. If you feel an ache, slow down. If it plain hurts, then stop. The ankle is getting better and I can bear more weight on it but not completely. I haven't done anything today, as I'm the type to psuh too hard, too soon. I'll see how it is, tomorrow.

Hang in there MonieMc!  Sounds like you are keeping a great attitude.

I'm happy to hear I wasn't the only one jumping ahead of myself (in my head) during W2D2.  Very intimidating thoughts.   But then I was feeling very strong for the first 45 seconds or so each run (last week I was looking at my phone after 25-30 seconds).  I actually had a split second or two to just think and enjoy the experience.

General notes: I had to switch back to the treadmil since I was working out after dark.  Walks were at 3.5m runs 4.7, except the last two which were 4.6nd to help keep my heartrate below 170.   Incline 2.0

Well done and thank you to everyone!

    Stephanie

Congrats to all on the run completions!  This one was easer then W1D1.  I even ran that last run right on time instead of having to walk for a few extra minutes first.

I tried Runkeeper and loved it!  It allows you to run outside but still have all the advantages of a treadmill as far as tracking pace and distance.  I had RunKeeper, the C25K app, and Rhapsody (music) running all at once and didn't have any problems.  Below is the link to my workout.

I used the C25K app today for the first time.  I had to actually cover up the timer on my treadmill so I wouldn't watch it.  LOL  I was trying to figure out Runkeeper...do you have to actually "wear" your phone for it to work?  I'm new to all this smart phone stuff you know!!  I hope everyone is healing up!!!

    Re: Starting C25K Monday 3/28/11

I believe that Runkeeper is really only for running outdoors.   If you are on a treadmill, it's not going to calculate your distance properly and most treadmills already give you all the information that runkeeper does (distance, calories burned, time elapsed, etc.)  I'm so glad you are enjoying your smart phone!

    Off to do W2D3 tonight...

I completed W2D3 last night.  Half way through a rain cloud opened up on me.  Actually- it was fun (65 degrees). I felt good and ran on a flat road, so my pacing was a bit better.  Here is my runkeeper link: http://runkeeper.com/user/72620102/activity/31060193

Anyone make the 3 minute runs in Day 3 yet?

Awesome job you guys! Look out! I might catch ya! LOL

My ankle has been feeling a bit better, so I tested it out early this morning. I decided to do a W1 session. I wasn't too sure how my ankle would handle the pounding, since I was on asphalt It didn't do too badly. Suprisingly, it was my knee that acted up. I strained that as well, though it didn't/doesn't really bother me during normal activity like my ankle does. I did most of the session before my knee started really bothering me. The trail I was on is a mile long. So, I went to the end and came back. Even though I didn't finish the session, I did get 2 miles in. So, that's a plus. By the time I got back to my car, my ankle and knee where really hurting. Gonna soak them for a bit and wrap them up. Hopefully, I'll be able to do a little better during the nest session.

    Keep up the awesomeness, everyone!

    Re: Starting C25K Monday 3/28/11

Hey Monie - Sorry to hear your ankle/knee are acting up.  This is my third time starting C25K, each time I had to stop because of some injury.  The good news is that each time I restart W1D1 is a bit easier.  At a suggestion from someone on the newbie site, I started riding a stationary bike to build up my leg strength and endurance without the stress of the impact.  If you have a chance why don't you give it a try, that and RICE are the best medicine.

Thanks Stephanie. Wish I had a Bike. I'd definitely use that! I sprained my ankle pretty bad last week and have been nursing it ever since. I feel pretty good right now. I'll see if I can get a W2 session in tomorrow or the next day, depending on how the ankle and knee are feeling, and rthe weather of course. Not giving up on this! Gotta keep at it,

I did W2D4 today.  I had NO energy but made myself do it anyway!  I'm still freaked out about having to run 3 minutes tomorrow!!!  (I'm allowed to talk about it now because I would have had to look ahead today legally since I'm done with W2  LOL)  That sounds so pathetic but it just seems impossible in my little mind.  I guess all you can do is give it your best shot, right??  I'm heading to AZ a week from Tuesday to visit a friend so I will have to work this into my vacation because I will NOT lose my momentum!!  I hope all injuries are healing.  You really do have to listen to your body.  "No pain, no gain" is not the way it is!!!  Keep up the great work everyone!
