The Philadelphia Revolution in affiliation with the Old York Road Raiders is assembling a 97 team that will play against the top New England and NY 97 AAA teams next season. The team will compete against organization from from the New England Hockey League AAA and The Eastern Hockey Federation AAA. This team will play a cross game schedule to allow players an opportunity to compete in the Boston Metro area while still playing local games. The team will travel 4-5 times to the Boston area to fulfill its requirements.
This team is about development. They will practice at Old York Road and play games at Warwick, Old York Road, Lehigh Valley and the Boston Area. The Coach of this team will include Ivan P and staff members from the Revolution. This team will include 2 weeks of camp with Ivan at Old York Road the end of August.
The merger of coaching techiniques and resources has proven successeccful. The Raiders 96's were the culmination of the program's development. As a result of the concepts they captured a DVHL Title, Atlantic District Title, International Silver Sticks Championship and a USA Hockey National Championship this past season. This is not Tier One, This MAD Hockey.
If we get enough 98's we will have a team at that level also.
See you at Old York Road

Any of these guys wanted by Interpol?
No but i think two of them have outstanding parking tickets
And why is this necessary?
Revolution alternative? Minutemen alternative? Create this, create that, dilute more, dilute more, all delusional.
Plenty of DVHL programs in the area, pick one and play hockey and maybe the teams we have would be better and we would improve the quality of play and still have our lives to live on weekends.
If you don't think a DVHL team provides enough hockey or development, well do a couple more tourneys where you can play up, silver sticks etc., do clinics, maybe school hockey for some too.
Just stop already.
Ummm. It's not necessary. Hate to break the news, but hockey isn't necessary. Period.
People see this particular program as a chance to combine the best available coaching and a highly competitive schedule to challenge the players. If you want to look at it that way, the scheduling part isn't too much different from playing 5 AAA tournaments in New England. Except you have control over how many games you play and who you play. Therefore no 3-game "tournaments" or wasted games against those crappy "AAA" teams that in reality aren't good enough to play AA.
This works for some, and people who have other priorities will just do other things.
Using your logic, everybody would just play house league. Or soccer.
No. You miss the point. You can have a better more competitive DVHL, which is not house league or soccer. It is reasonable travel.
There are already too many teams in the area why continue to dilute the hockey more, then you add the AAA on top of that. Why play a New England /NY league and do as you suggest. At least they are a bit smarter in New England when the focus becomes more on competitve high school hockey rather than the clubs at this age. You have to try out for your school, no place else to run to. Best kids make it. I don't get it. Just go play AAA or decide you want to play in the league you have and make it better. Put your presumed great coaching in that. Have fun, have playoffs make the kids better. Push good hockey down to the people and the kids with reasonable travel and expense for families. What we are doing is just making things worse. Its really all way to complicated. Less teams, more talent competing to make the different levels. Improve your local area league and stop the madness. This is a bigger issue of course and USA hockey should address it more than they have to date. You suggest expansion when what is needed is consolidation.
