#3. Bad, by U2
#2. Beautiful Day, by U2
And #1. Born To Run (of course), by Springsteen
Also deserving consideration:
I Know You're Out There Somewhere, Moody Blues
Viva La Vida, Coldplay
Street Fighting Man, Rolling Stones
"Jigsaw Falling into Place"-- Radiohead
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love"-- Queen
"Twilight Zone"-- Golden Earring
Honorable Mention to... "Woke Up this Morning"-- Alabama 3. Yes, it is the theme song from the Sopranos. It's the first song in my race playlist. The tempo is perfect for keeping me from starting out too fast.
and to "Do You Love Me"-- Guster. It's such a happy song! It's always in my long slow run playlist.
ORcoastrunner... I totally agree with Florence & the Machine's "Dog Days are Over!" That's one of my "get pumped" songs as I'm driving to run!
OK Adding mine in:
(Making no apologies for being stuck in the 80's)
1. Simple Minds - Alive and Kicking (long play version) (For positive encouragement)
2. Eagles - Get Over It (For making me um... get over it)
3. Information Society - I wanna know (yeah the trite "Pure Energy" song) (I know... but it's nice and long (almost a full mile's worth of music) and has a great beat.
Others on my playlist:
Yeah i've also got Bronski Beat - Smalltown Boy. I thought i was the only one who remembered that song lol
Aha - Take on Me
ZZTop - Just about anything... but 1st on the list - LaGrange
Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55
Yes - Changes
Danny Hutton Hitters - Wouldn't It Be Good
Fleetwood Mac - Stand Back
Wings - Live and Let Die
Alan Parsons Project - Prime Time
Then there are the specific running "Theme" songs (OK Some are a stretch... but they make me wanna run faster)
Steve Miller Band - Take the Money and Run
Ventures - Walk Don't Run (Works despite the ironic title)
Bob Segar - Against The Wind
Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son
Blondie - One Way or Another
Doobie Brothers - One Step Closer
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Slade - Run Run Away
Rush - Red Barchetta

I like songs with a fast, steady beat for running. A few I especially like when they hit shuffle to the top of the playlist--
Dancing with myself - Billy Idol
This is our emergency - Pretty Girls Make Graves (never a hit, but I love it for running)
Hard to pick a 3d, long-way tie
Go with the flow - Queens of the Stone Age
Insistor - Tapes 'n Tapes
The pretender - Foo Fighters
King for a Day - Green Day
Requiem for a dying song - Flogging Molly
Girl anachronism - Dresden Dolls
Burn it down - Awolnation
Running out - Scissor Sisters
Honestly it depends on the run. If I'm doing a short run, I like a good upbeat, fast temp song. Since I do a lot more long distance running I tend to like a wide variety of music to keep me going.
Patience by Guns and Roses - for challenging aspects of a run (it reminds me to keep it slow and steady when pushing through a tough hill)
I Am the Highway by Audioslave - keeps me focused when pushing myself to a new distance
More Human than Human by Rob Zombie - gets my blood pumping and my energy up
I listen to such an eclectic range of music, but these are some of the songs I always include in my running list.
billy talent- the ex
the chemical brothers- the big jump and also shake break bounce
edward sharpe- 40 day dream
the faint- disappear
all very different but definitely check them out...great beats to run to!!
Mine are "City on Down" by O.A.R., "That Was A Crazy Game of Poker" by O.A.R., "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana
"I can't means I won't"
My Blog - http://http://runningonli.blogspot.com/
Beginning of the end - Into Eternity
Victory - Within the Ruins
To Carry You Away - After the Burial
I love Fast paced heavy tubthumpin' tunes to run to. My eyepid is filled with nothing but Metal.
Similar to Roasted garlic & Black bean please and thank you!
