Today is W2D1.  Here we go!!

It's time for me to bump it up a notch.  Week 1 wasn't too bad, but this hot weather and high pollen concentration made it a little challenging.  The breathing issue I was afraid of hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.  I guess taking it at a really slow pace helped a lot.  Thank you all for your words of wisdom and encouragement.  I move on to Week 2 today with confidence and motivation.  Stand with me and we all move forward together.  No matter what stage you are on now, we all are moving forward together to brighter days ahead.  And for all the Week 2 starters, join me and we will climb this hill together, one stride at a time.

Simon

Hi Simon,  I too completed W2D1 today. YEAH!!!  I'm  having some trouble with my shins, but I'm icing so hopefully it won't derail my schedule.  I'm completely new to running, but not a complete couch potato.  I'm ready to meet this hurdle with you!!!

Woo hoo! Way to go! Icing the shins -- I've spent plenty of time doing that. The pain from the cold pack is only outweighed by the relief from the shin splints. I also noticed that my shin pain was related to how worn my shoes were. Just a thought.  Congrats and well done!

Thanks for the tip, John!  My shoes are a few months old.  I have another pair I may start breaking in...it might help!!!

Re: Today is W2D1. Here we go!!

The strangest thing happened today...is this normal?  Since it wasn't a day to run, I decided to take a long 7.5 mile walk.  I'm doing a walk/run 1/2 marathon in June.  For the first two miles, I thought I was going to have to turn around because my shins burned so badly.  Then during the third mile, the pain got less intense and became more of a tightness.  By the 4th mile, there was NO discomfort at all.  I finished strong and pain-free.  Is that normal?  I am still going to ice them to avoid stiffness later.  Wonder how they will be on W2D2?  Since the weather here tomorrow is predicted to be nasty, I may be putting that outing off until Monday.

W2D2 today, and I finished feeling like I could do a little more!  Not a ton ... just a little...LOL  I had to get out in the wind and snow flurries, but I'm so glad I did.  I've been icing my shins and broke out a new pair of running shoes.  They didn't start to burn until the last interval today...instead of the first.  PROGRESS!   Hope you were able to get out today too, Simon.

    Have a great week!

Re: Today is W2D1. Here we go!!

Hi Marcy, glad to see we are at about the same spot.  I will be 50 in just a few months!  Although I'm having some trouble with shin splints, icing and stretching seems to be helping.  I'm anxious to get out on Tuesday to finish W2!  Glad you are feeling better and are ready to tackle C25K again!!!  Good luck!!!

Re: Today is W2D1. Here we go!!

Hey Simon, I forgot to add...I followed your lead and used a podcast for cues for the first time today.  You are right...I did make it easier, and the time seemed to go by much faster when I wasn't watching my watch!  Thanks for the tip.

Re: Today is W2D1. Here we go!!

    Hey all,

I'll be starting W2D1 tomorrow so I'm glad to see that there is a group of people on here who are at the same stage as me.  To comment on a few of the earlier posts, I use the podcast with the cues as well and it makes it so much easier than using a watch.

I look forward to watching us all progress!

Hi Simon, this is the one I used.  I'd love to find one done with country music, but I haven't had any luck  yet.

Which one are you using?  Good luck tonight and enjoy your run with your wife.

I mistakenly looked ahead to W3, and I'm a bit nervous.  I'm glad I have an extra day to play with now...LOL
