over doing it?

I recently started on a workout program for point guard that i found here on ihoops. I would do that for an hour, then go outside and shoot, drills, free throws, and pick up games for like 4 hours a day. my parents insist it is over doing it. Is it?

Just like with  strength and conditioning you need time off. Obviously the ammount you can push your body depends on age, gender, and overall physical fitness, but everyone needs a break. There is no reason that you can't practice your shots everyday, in fact I would call that being a commited player, nevertheless your body needs time to rest and the brain needs time to process the information your body has learned in your drills. If you are constantly pushing everyday you wont give your body the proper time to recover and adjust. I encourage my players to be well rounded with other intrests outside of basketball if anything just so they don't burn out on basketball. Hope that helps.
