Spring Stampede '01 - Looking for New Players...

Spring Stampede will be holding open tryouts

Saturday August 20 & Sunday August 21 at Bayer Park

Saturday 11am - 2pm & Sunday 3pm - 6pm.

The Spring Stampede '01 from Spring, Texas (very near the Woodlands, Humble, Conroe, Tomball and North Houston) is justed finished up their first season together (In  June, 2011, the team qualified for ASA Nationals in TN, by placing  second in the Houston ASA Championship Tournament). The team will be holding tryouts and selecting  players to help a strong team become stronger.  Selections will be announced no later than 8/23/11.

More Info:

The  team has its home / practice fields in Bayer Park, and is associated  with the Spring Area Youth Softball (SAYS) organization (24811 W. Hardy Rd / just south of Cypresswood).

The team Manager / Head Coach is Gino Briones who managed the 2009 GHYSA 8U Metro-Rec Champions - Lady Pirates and the 2010 GHYSA 8U Metro-Rec Champions - Barracudas.  Coach Gino also managed the very successful 2010 SAYS 8U All-Stars who went 30-5  for the summer of 2010, and placing first or second place in all  tournaments entered (4 Championships & 3 Runner-ups).  But, wins are  not the ultimate goal.  Coach Gino ensures that each player has the tools to succeed, at the same time  makes certain that the players learn to love the game and enjoy it.   Coach Gino provides a very positive atmosphere for the players.  The wins will be the product of this approach.

First  year select:  Being a true first year team (only 1 '00 player), the  team is enjoying some success not usually seen.  The team is currently  playing 10+ games over .500.  The team as added four championships to  its credentials: Wild Bunch's Houston Food Bank Drive Tournament; TPS '00 'Mother May I' tournament; Humble Cobras Texas All-Stars Tournament  and Sudden Impact Wants You - 4th of July Tournament.  The team also  was the runner-up in Metro Houston ASA's Championship Tournament.

The  team is based around 2001 players, but some exceptional 2002 players  will be considered.  We are not only looking for great players, but also  dedicated and positive parents.

Short Term Goals: Reinforce the fundamentals of the game.  Participate in tournaments  beginning in late-2011 and finish up by participating in a prestigious  national tournament in the summer of 2012, such as; USFA’s World Series, in Panama City, the Disneyworld Fastpitch Classic or ASA Nationals.

Medium Term Goals: Continue play through 12U and above.  Build a legacy organization that  will provide select ball play for several age groups (currently 10U  & 14U are active in the Spring Stampede organization, 12U ’00 and  ’99 will begin in August, 2011 as well).

Long Term Goals: To prepare and to provide all the tools for each player to succeed in  at the High School and Collegiate Levels of play, but also in life,  whether it be in school, the workplace or at home.

If you would like to be part of this organization, please, contact Coach Gino at or at 281-733-1019.
