Hi - anyone else about to start C25K? Having wanted to start jogging for ages now, I have finally decided tomorrow is the day! No problems with the walking but jogging very difficult to keep going for more than couple of minutes so think (hope) that C25K might be the answer!

I am a newbie too. I started C25K on the 13th, so we will be relatively close to each others training schedule. There is also a thread of people that started on the 11th May, so you may want to look at that too.
Hi Lesley, good luck on your journey!!! I have NEVER been a runner either, but I am starting W7 tomorrow. I can't believe I am able to run for 25 minutes! This has been a great place to find advice and encouragement. Lace up those shoes, and keep us posted on your progress! Most importantly...enjoy the ride!

Hey Leslie, I just started C25K today, and was planning to track with the group that started on the 11th. I figure that people will spread out a bit over the course of the program (due to repeat weeks), and guess that someone will join me in the back of the group (it's always a little fun being in back, a little less serious and the jokes are better). I completed W1D1 today, and so far, so good. Looking forward to Tuesday. Welcome and good luck!
Tomorrow will be day 3 of the first week for me. Started before finding C25k. I'm hopeful I can keep up. Breathing is harder than I thought. Very humbling.

Congratulations on taking up running! I started just 9 months ago, naver having been a runner before, and it has completely changed every aspect of my life! I run as often as I can now, at least 5 days a week, and routinely run 10 + miles now when I have time. when I started, I couldn't run a mile continuously. In the process, I've lost nearly 50 pounds! You won't regret it! and if you need a little encouragement, the community here is extremely nice and helpful. I am ready to start tomorrow Lesley!! What does the first day / week entail? I am excited I found your post, I have been wanting to start running for a while but have been lacking the motivation. It will be nice to have a virtual group 'to run with'.
What is C25K? I keep seeing it in posts here. I might want to join. I'm a newbie and I only walk. I've been training for a 5K since January 28th, but I'm still at only 16 mph and it still wears me out. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to continue to improve my walking pace and endurance an be able to do a 10K in October. Eventually, I would like to try to run some if I can get my hips and knees to cooperate.
C25K = couch to 5k It is a 9-week gradual program to get you ready to run a 5k.
Lesley, I found the first week online, in case others did not know and want to get started: (Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.) I can't wait to get started!
I just looked it up and realized that it is basically the same program I've been doing with my beginning runners class. So, I can't say I'll be a real beginner tomorrow, but since the class ended with our first 5K yesterday, I will join this group and do the program again. Maybe this time my hips and knees will be able to continue the jogging intervals.
I too am starting today as soon as I take my daughter to pre-school. It's beautiful out right now so I will take it outdoors for the first run and I think I'll head up to the lake to do it. I'll report back later!
Well I started.That is about all that can be said about my 'run' this morning.
It certainly wasn't pretty, but it was done.
I'm going to start the program today. I'm really nervous that I won't be able to do it. I've been walking a little, but not much. I hope to get in shape and lose weight at the same time. I'm almost 50 and I have a 14 year old son, so I'm considered the "old one", I even had one mom ask if I was Adam's grandma. All the other mom's are young enough to be my children. I want to make my son proud.

I did the c25k in 2004 and loved it. I was actually a runner for over a year! Then we moved and I got a new job, and time to run went away. I had a baby in March, and am ready to get moving again - I can't wait to be a runner again!
